We haven't gotten far enough away from the basic teachings of our Constitution, formed by Christians, to overlook that much evil and even call it good....as do other nations.

You do have Christian extremists in America, and many aren't punished. Luckily I'm not so stupid as to attribute their actions to all Americans or all Christians.

The Evangelicals are extremists who feel they have the right to force their values upon everyone else (kinda like the Taliban). I haven't noticed them getting punished.
See, when a group believes something (like, that 4 microscopic cells are a human being with a soul), that's fine. They are welcome to their belief and can live their lives accordingly. But when they then decide that EVERYONE else must live their lives based on that belief, and try to use political means to force the issue, they cross the line into extremism.....

we do have Christian extremists in America. they're the people that blow up women's health clinic, murder gynecologists, picket the funerals of gay soldiers, seek to insert mythology into public school science class, have books banned from public libraries, try to errect Christian symbols on public property, restrict women's rights.
the Evangelicals have a huge lobby in Washington DC and they do whatever they can to institute their theology as the law of our secular country.
bombers and murderers get punished if they're caught but it's not against the law to scream hate at a gay soldier's funeral or lobby government officials or to seek to manipulate a school board.

Well, if they're extremists, they're not good Christians to begin with. They make normal Christian people look bad.

Christian "extremists" as you call them (I prefer "devout Christians") would not be breaking any laws. Christianity doesn't teach killing or terrorism. Anyone who does these things in Christ's name is crazy. People should not judge all Christians by what some crazy person does.

Bluntly, because they're on the inside pissing out, and that's a damn sight easier to rationalise as not being an issue than the opposite.
