my uncle bought my Canon A620 camera, so now i'm stuck without a camera but with an extra 200 bucks.

i'm willing to put in another benjamin, but that's about as far as i will go. i was thinking of getting the A630, but that's too much like the A620.

what camera should i get, that's around 300 bucks. no more than 320. prefferrably a canon, but other brands with the exception of Sony and Panasonic is fine by me.

any recommendations?

I just got done recommending the A630 to someone else privately. Why NOT get the updated version of the camera you liked so well? I know that you can get the camera and a 1 GB Sandisk Ultra II card for under $300 out of New York and from many other sources.

The SD600 is about the same price, but it has a sensor that is half the size and you give up some zoom, some pixels, any user control of focus, aperture or shutter speed. It IS a cool pocket-sized camera, though, and it reviews pretty well.

The SD630 is the same price, but I don't like the fact that it lacks an optical viewfinder, because you are stuck using the battery-hungry LCD 100% of the time.
