I spent years in school and have all kinds of loans, moved to a major city and even though I love my field, I want nothing more than to move to a small town and have a family. (I don't even have a boyfriend right now.) Has this happened to anyone else? What did you do about it?

Many people spend so much time trying to get a degree and then a job, by the time they actually get the job they are burn out. Over half the population are working jobs they did not train for. Go ahead move to that small town. Get a job you will love even if It is different and even if it don't pay as much. You will probably meet someone in that small town and be happier than you can imagine.

I'm not in your exact position, but a similar one. My boyfriend and I are very interested in living in a rural area down the road.. but I'm about to start school for interior design. You didn't mention your field, but if it's possible, you may want to figure out if there's something you could do with it in a more rural atmosphere.. for instance, I've spoken to my boyfriend about us trying to find a place close enough to be within a 45 minute commute to a city large enough for me to be able to utilize my degree. Or perhaps if we live near a medium sized city, I could look at opening my own business. I would also focus your efforts, since you're not working on the family part just yet, on getting your student loans paid off ASAP. Private loans first if you have them, then government loans. See if you qualify for an economic hardship deferment (not forbearance!) on your government (FFELP) loans, and if you do, try to as much paid towards your private loans as possible. You want to get those as much out of the way as you can to prepare for this possible future. Also, speak with a financial advisor to get assistance with making a financial plan, if you haven't already, and approach this with him as one of your goals.

I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors, hon.

be glad you're feeling this way After you finished your degree! It is good to plan ahead. Since you don't even have a boyfriend, you can start to plan financially so you can have your family without being strapped.

And remember, you have a whole lifetime to be married with kids, but only this short time to date and enjoy the single life. I know it is hard to hear that when you are the single one and I'm married with a family ... but be patient. It'll come.

You're going to have to pay off your loans.

Get a job, establish some financial security for yourself.

Don't worry about not having a boyfriend, you're still young.
