The problems is parents are no longer allowed to punish there kids. They can try and ground them but Kids just like to push there parents to the limit and if parents try and spank them, then the cops get called and all hell breaks loose.
Another thing is kids aren't taught manners anymore. I noticed this the other day.
I went to the grocery store and these teens were hanging around outside and one of them said "Damn I aint ever seen a stomach that big before"
Now as I am an emotional pregnant woman (39 weeks) that really upset me and I let them know it.
When I was that young I knew better then to say things like that to people because I was taught that it wasn't nice.
Hopefully things can change soon, because I for one am scared about the future.

Todays youth do not seem to understand what the word RESPECT really means. I would get me *** beat if I got "the look" and didn't do right. Todays teens will stare the look down and then say what did I do. Society has alot to do with it. They have made all kids think that they are abused if they get disiplined the way we got it. My parents would actually be in jail if the laws were the same back then. I appreciate all of my whippings. My mother used to say "A hard head makes a soft behind" I have 2 daughters who are very respectful to others but at home when it is just our family, they have tested the boundaries of what can and can't be done. The oldest threatened to call the police if i hit her, I called the police for her, The officer came and exlained to her that if I hit her in the allowed area on her body ( he demonstrated the area to both of us) it was not abuse (no bruising allowed). I let have it and we are ok with the attitudes now

there are many reasons why children act this way, but i beleve th biggest reason is the relationship between the child and the parent and it seems to me that back in the day most [parents] both played an active part in there childrens lives and stayed married to raise the kids nowadays most children are being rasied by single working parents, its not the parents falt if the child can not be controld now days. personly i am only 20 years old and when i was 4 my mother left so my father raised me and my brother my dad would go to work at 6 am and come home at 9 pm so we learn at a young age how to take care of ourselfs so when we became teenagers we started acting out to get som attention from my father and to some what feel cool. i honestly beleve there is no difference from drinking, smoking ciggeretes and doing drugs none of them are good but when kids see adults doing these things they think its cool. try and be nice to the kids in your neighborhood maybe ask them to mow your grass or help you around the hous with somthing and give them a littl guidence you might be able to help them in some way or another maybe they dont have a good role model in there life

I'm one of those youth..
I've never heard of any firebombings in my area, and nobody that I know of, or heard of(of my age) has a criminal record.
I have many friends, and only one is hooked on drugs. It's pretty normal to try them once or twice, for curiosity's sake. Others do take them, but its not all that bad.
My dad told me when he was a teenager, everyone was doing drugs, all sorts of things.
Try not to have such a stereotypical look on young people.
Most of the things you have said, I don't agree with. They're not as bad as you think, and it's much the same as when my parents were young.

Lack of communication between parents. Lack of any real concept of discipline. Lack of work ethic. Children are no longer held accountable for their actions. Take your pick. By the time I was my children's ages I was working for my father yet in this day and age I have been criticized for assigning small chores to my children because "children shouldn't be used as slave labor."
I may have yet to accomplish what I planned to as a child due to some pretty foolish mistakes I have made in the past but I have remained honest, diligent, and hopeful on my journey to goals. I hope to God I am able to instill this attitude in my children.
I am 29.

today you must remember that times has changed, most of this is a set up for our young children. thing that we use to get away with they are not getting a chance. they are big followers of the next child. Its called trying to be down. As far a getting stomped they have these laws that if you hit you child you can loose them and these kids now this so many of them threaten their parent that they will call on them. Now what type of s*** is that.

The luster of morality is declining day by day. It's not just because of rotten societies but people (from the parents to the religious man or the normal guy on the streets) not playing their role in educating the generation of children.

It's because the mother isn't at home raising those kids like she should be doing. Instead she's out working and not doing her real job which is supposed to be raising those kids and taking care of the house.

That's is a generalization and i resent it! there is nothing wrong with today's youth it's just a group of kids that happen to be immature and its because people like you ,who don't understand that, that teens and young kids get stereotyped and don't get taken seriously in some situations.
