Living in Texas, it always meant to me, the guys that passed over the border and brought back illegals hidden in their trucks, or it was the person that met them with transportation this side of the Rio Grande..........but you peaked my curiousity, so I did the internet search, and found a site that is what you mean,,,,an ANTI-immigration movement has obviously taken over the term in quite an opposite way than the original one. Type in your search, "el coyote immigration" and you'll get lots of choices

Los coyotes are the ones that help the immigrants get across the border

the ones helping to catch the immigrants are the minutemen

El Coyote is a name given to those that pick up illegal immigrants attempting to cross into the USA, & force them into Illegal slavery.

hell nope ,el coyote are people bringing other people in for a big fee .
up to $2000.00 or more and many times they take the money and leave the people behind .and they can't report it .
