No no no no. The fluid inside of a cold blister actually carries the active virus and it will spread even more blisters all over. Best thing to is to put on an antibiotic ointment often. Some people use ice for the swelling or pain.

NO!!! The vesicle is full of virus, and you will get it on your hands and infect other areas (like eyes, genitals etc-not good) AND other people. Don't touch it, and if you do, wash your hands immediattely and well! It's contagious.
Use Abreva to shorten the course of the virus.
When you first feel the tingle indicating an incipient sore, put an ice cube on the sie as long as you can bear it. The temperature change will reduce the amount of virus replicating. Abreva will also shorten the course, and reduce the size/scabbiness of the vesicle.
If really bad, you can see your doctor about an antiviral drug to shorten the course.
Most sores take 7-10 days to heal.

at a similar time as I even have never experienced this, I even have seen a family members member putting thier ear wax on their blister. as quickly as I asked why, she reported it helps it to heal greater straight away than abreva. I observed her day after today and her blister did look heavily greater advantageous.
