Since I'm thinking about adopting a puppy, and I did a little research and it tells me that puppies usually urinate every 4 hours and need to be housetrained and etc. So I was wondering, while I'm sleeping, if I would have to wake up and take the puppy out to do its thing. Or if I could just sleep through the night. Thank You :]

Most puppies can sleep through the night by 16 weeks, but some can sooner and some take longer. Usually if you take them out right before you go to bed, once in the middle of the night (or halfway through your sleeping time), and then right after you wake up will work until they puppy gets old enough to skip the midnight one.

Younger puppies, even if they have a beginning hand at housetraining, will still need to eliminate every few hours (even if you just do it as a pre-caution so you don't have to pick anything up later), including into the wee hours of the night. When nature calls, nature calls - there's no denying it.
As they get older, they learn to retain it through the night because their bodies will be larger and have more muscle control and can more easily hold waste matter and cause less discomfort.
The source I left is corny, albeit useful. #5 talks about how long a puppy can "hold it" using age as a reference tool.

J, I will give you a hint from my Grandfather and it worked for my dad and for me too. What posters have said about training is correct. For full house training do this: When you take the pup outside to go take it where you want it to go and let it see you pee there! I swear to God this works! The pup will see and smell it and get the idea in just a couple of days. I have seen this work with only ONE try they learn from other dogs and if you haven't other dogs, to the puppy YOU are the head hound. I realize this can be problematic I hope you don't live in an apartment complex.....

Either kennel your pup or wake up to let it out.
A puppy should not eat 4 hours before bedtime, unless they need it because they are smaller.
Usually 3 meals a day suffices, be sure to wet dry food if the pup has no or small teeth and is too little to chew it up correctly.
Puppies will piddle indeed while you are asleep, some will also pooh. They need water left out for them at night, so they will piddle no matter what. However my pup does not pooh at night because I feed her 4 hours before bedtime.
A small kennel may be your best bet though, if you need your rest.

Depends on the age of the puppy. They can hold it for one hour for each week old they are (as a rule). So, if you're getting a young pup, you can expect to get up once in the night to allow it to eliminate outside.

i don't possibly understand the question yet i'mma attempt and answer it.... your dogs may be very playful in the process the day and merely get drained at night, if so enable her sleep and be happy of the certainty that your dogs does not would desire to be taken out while its time to sleep. wish This helps! :D

you can sleep through the night still.i don't see why not.i don't think that puppy's need to go to the bathroom every 4 hours, i think it take more then 4 hours to go to the system.all you have to go is lust take your puppy out before you go to sleep at night, but you should wait after your puppy drank the water maybe 30 min to 1 hour before you take your puppy out to go to the bathroom.

a pup will pee anytime it wakes up...the way to handle it is to take it out before you go to bed and put it in a safe place with a training pad. if it wakes up, it will use the pad. training is a numbers game, the more you take it outside, the faster it will learn, but when it gets older, it will be able to hold it all night.

Most of the time they will sleep through the night, but you can buy housebreaking pads to put down by the door in case you are worried that he will go while you are asleep.
