when I save my open office documents they save as odf. is that compatible with .doc or not?? I need to send a resume and I want to be sure its compatible if someone is using Microsoft Office to open it and it will be formatted the same.

When you are saving it, choose "Save As..." and specify that you want to save it either as .doc or .rtf. Microsoft Word can sometimes read odf files, but not always! Just to be on the safe side, use rtf--it is compatible with the most programs.
