Why do we sometimes get weak in the knees when we happen to run into them, even though there's no love there?

Because the memories are still there
and the special friendship is remembered
not that many people get real close to you.

Nostalgia and we most likely forget the things that made up break up in the first place.
Spend a little time with them and trust me....all of those old annoying reasons will come right back into focus.
This has happened to me more than once.

Because if it was a good relationship all the good feelings come and you remember how they felt when you held and kissed them and the way you looked into each others eyes. It's a good feeling even if a bit wistful. There is one certain cologne that reminds me of an old boyfriend and I think of him everytime I smell it.

It's called euphoric recall. We remember all the good things that we shared with that person we loved. We don't remember the reasons so much of why we aren't together anymore.
Very normal, but yes at times awkward.
