have you dyed your hair before? if you haven't, use the bleach because it will make your color lighter and remove the pigment in your hair so you can dye over it. If you have dyed your hair before, use the hair color removal kit. the kit does just that, it remove hair color from your hair. when you dye your hair, the chemicals in the dye lighten or lift the color from your hair first, then deposit the new color over it. if you use a hair color removal kit to remove a hair color you don't like, it will take out the deposited color and leave you with the lightened base (typically a lighter orange) that was created by the chemicals before the color was deposited. then you could probably leave it on a bit longer to get blonde results. if you use it on natural hair, it's similar to bleach, but it definitely will not be as effective if you're starting out with dark hair. if you tried to use the removal kit with dark hair, you'd probably need to leave the chemicals on your hair for an hour or so to achieve and orangey color. and then you'd have to buy another kit and do the whole process again to get something closer to blonde.

i'd say try sallybeauty.com to see your various options. they carry hair color removers as well as bleach.

hair color removal kit is like a color stripper, if u dyed ur hair red and didn't want it u would use one of those to try and get the color out of ur hair to get ur original color back, and a bleach is like it takes all the pigment out of ur hair it will be blonde like a yellow blonde and u would have to use a toner to make it a normal blonde, don't bleach ur hair or it will be really badly damaged.

I'm not exactly sure, but i was at hot topic the other day and i asked one of the workers how to get long-lasting results with manic panic. she told me to NOT bleach it because it can ruin your hair. go to the store and buy the lightest blond dye you can find. don't bleach it.

you need to bleach to get the best results. especially if you are using one of the vivid manic panic colors.
