I definitely wouldn't recommend it ... unless you want a dead - or otherwise comatose - cat. There are chemicals in chocolate that, even though they don't harm humans (except to make you jittery and hyper if you consume too much), even a little bit can serve as a lethal poison to cats and dogs. What happens is that the stuff in the chocolate can't clear from the cat's body as quickly as it can from humans; it builds up until it clogs up inside the cat, giving it diarrhea and vomiting. It can also cause kidney problems and heart attacks ... and even if it doesn't happen right away, the hyperactivity should be enough to make anyone think twice. My cat got extremely hyper every time he got ahold of his catnip toy. Believe me, it was not a pretty sight. He got so wild; his eyes got big as saucers and deranged-looking. It was scary. I finally had to confiscate his catnip toy. You definitely don't want that!

They do have some alternative stuff that some pet food manufacturers make that I think resembles chocolate ... you might want to check into that.

100% is deadly to cats. Chocolate is extremely toxic to them. Semi-sweet chips and baking chocolate are the deadliest. They are 10 times more toxic then other chocolates. If you find kitty has ever consumed any choc late, get kitty to the vet right away. Seconds count here. One of my cats was accidentally poisoned last summer by insecticides (she was sleeping in their garden when they started spraying), she is now slightly brain damaged and it had changed her personality also. We got her to vet as soon as she was found, she was gone 3 days, he gave her an antidote and we all waited. With chocolate the affects are permanent - death. My cat was lucky, give yours chocolate and yours won't be so lucky.
Chocolate is on the list of toxic foods for ALL animals including your bunny. Your lucky to still the little guy/girl.

No you do not want to give cats chololate. The reason is because cats don't have the motabolism to break down the chocolate. Cats are also lactose and tollerent. Which means that the milk in chocolate would make the cat sick. Therefor I would watch out for anything with milk.

My God!!! Cats kill birds and mice for fun even though they have food in their bowls and you are asking if your little evil treasure is able to eat chocolate!!!???

Yes, they can be coated, yet unfortunately tend to fight against this - at least for a while. I would recommend patience, it is a few months till easter hits us.

Chocolate can easily kill cats. Though war tends to kill more. And I do think that this is what this question is really about.
I know that some people use Yahoo Questions to abuse the American presidency and American's as a whole. They also forget that Britain had a huge empire which contained many cats. And according to records it seemed clear that those kitties did a lot better under the union flag than they did when fed tuna by some Arab in a mud hut. I think that we are missing the big picture here (ever since that robbery at the Louvre) and we need to re-establish the concept of civilisation. Cats should be free to wander where ever they want, I hate those bastards who put them in bags and chuck 'em in rivers, meanwhile the UN stands idley by and does nothing. IT IS ABOUT TIME THAT PEOPLE TOOK THIS ISSUE SERIOUSLY.*

Hi William....reading your question on a double take makes me wonder if you're being facetious and it appears you are by the looks of your other questions. Good try!

Chocolate contains theobromine and is fatal to cats.

I wouldn't feed MY cat chocolate. Doesn't sound good for them at all, and I know it's poisonous for dogs to have chocolate. Oh and p.s. most of the questions you ask... are seriously psychotic. Are you a sociopath or something?

It is toxic to cats. Are you actually pouring melted chocolate on animals? If so, someone ought to report you to the authorities for cruelty.

critters aren't for our entertainment only...chocolate is toxic to animals, it can do harm to cats, dogs, bunnys, ferrets, etc.
don't give chocolate to a cat...pounce cat treats, now there is a delight to a cat, and a few of them won't hurt the cat.
