They make you fill out a survey-type sheet before you go in there. So if you say that you're racist or sexist or something (even if it isn't true), then they probably won't choose you because you are biased. Anyway, that's what one of my teachers said.
Good luck! ;-)

I realy enjoyed my jury duty service so much I am considering calling Jury Services to see if they can 'accidentally' bring my name up on the system.
If you are in Australia, don't worry if you don't turn up- they'll bring a police car to your front door and take you there themselves. There very accommodating like that. If you refuse they'll take you away in a nice little room and feed you three meals a day sharing a room with Butch the bikie who is just looking for roomie like you and then eventually you'll face the jury on the other side of the court. Not cool man.
Have you actually considered the possibility of going and having a go at this jury service because not only is it your duty and an honour, you can shop for a defense lawyer in case you ever end up on the wrong side of the law- I already have the name of my future defense lawyer!
Go and enjoy, you may well be surprised.

Unless it is an extremely good reason, you shouldn't be trying to get out of jury duty. It is your civic duty and you should take it seriously. While there are definite flaws in the justice system, imagine not having the right to be judged by a jury of your peers.

George Carlin used to say if you want out of jury duty tell the judge that you would make a great juror because you can tell if someone is guilty just by looking at them.

How about instead of lying, you just don't show up. And when they come to your house looking for you, you can go ahead and denounce your citizenship to America and maybe the INS can go ahead and deport you.
You live in the best country in the world and you can't even spare 1 week fin your measley life to give back to the system that has given you a chance to be somebody. Self-centered people like yourself need to get together and make your own country.

I never wanted to serve but when I got the call I just did it to get it over with. I actually enjoyed it. It was a murder case. It took 2 weeks of my time and I was sequestered for 2 nights. When they were interviewing potential jurors, I heard a lot of excuses and non of them worked. The judge even said she didnt wanna hear any lame excuses....

Try suicide, that works every time. you should consider it an honor to be on Jury Duty, not just a civic duty.

Act really smart and like you know what the laws are. The defense won't want you on the jury.

You must at least show up. After that, if you're called into a courtroom and are sworn in, then answer questions truthfully, but stretch it wherever possible so that you may be dismissed. Listen to what other jurors say prior to their dismissal.
