what is the procedure to change my surname?

I would like to change my surname...Can I know what is the procedure and how many days it takes..

That's a legal name change, and takes more than a few days. Depends on laws in your state/city. NYC required getting a lawyer and filing a legal name change with the family court, filling out 9,000 pages of forms 47 times (ok, it just SEEMED that way), and took a total of about 10 months and $1300.00.
