Try the free open-source program for Windows called "Audacity" which is available at the below link. Also at that link, download the "LAME" software that goes along as an add-on to the Audacity program. With Audacity, and the LAME add-on, you can save most music files to .mp3's.

your computer should already have windows audio converter. If not just type in free mp3 converter into yahoo.

itunes also does a great job at converting to mp3.
