The first thing that comes to mind with hand/feet distribution of numbness is VitB12 deficiency. That and thyroid function should be checked. Then the more comprehensive neurological/connective tissue disorders mentioned in other answers. A neuro consult is in order definitely.

Hope this helps.

I'm not sure what you mean by your upper body? I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia because I was having pains in my feet. Also my hands and feet / arms and legs were going numb. And my face had the same numbness especially around my nose and mouth. I researched and thought for sure it was diabetes or too much potassium in my system. But I was wrong. You really should go to your doctor and find out. There are many things that could be causing this.

There are several possible causes,first...are you diabetic? Sometimes diabetics get a condition known as neuropathy.
Second have you pulled or strained something in your neck or back perhaps? A pinched nerve will produce those symptoms at times.
really the best thing to do would be to see your doctor for a checkup.
The possibles causes for your numbness may be minor or they could be a sympton of a far more serious and possibly life threatening condition

MS can cause numbness. It is a neurological disease, and it can be a couple of days or on and off. I have had it for 9 years and am healthy as can be. You should check with a doctor to get an MRI, CAT scan, etc., to find out what is going on with you.

there is a circulatory disease called "Raynauds Syndrome" it is characterized by the numbness of limbs and pain in limbs. its pretty uncommon so that's probably not what it is, but you should go to your doctor to make sure it's not something serious like unmanaged diabetes or other illnesses.
