It depends on the type of contact. Some contacts allow more oxygen to get to your eyes than others and are therefore approved to be worn overnight. Those that are not specifically designed to be worn overnight should not be. Even though you seem fine, the longer you wear them, the more deprived of oxygen your eyes will be. As a result of this, the blood vessels in your eyes will start to grow, trying to get more oxygen to the area (neovascularization). That's not a good thing, and a sign your corneas need more oxygen!

you will be fine until you are NOT. My neice got a serious eye infection that way that nearly caused her to go blind. It was extremely painful, and she had to wear two pair of sunglasses until it cleared up, even indoors plus take antibiotics and eye drops. She was a very lucky young woman. I have lost a contact in my eye that way where it was stuck to the back of my eye. Also quite painful and could have torn the retina. But didn't luckily. Like I said, you will be fine until something happens...and keep it up and it will.

I'm not sure. I do it every once and a while and nothing really happens except it feels weird the first five minutes when I wake up. My friend sleeps with them in all the time, but my eye doctor says I shouldn't. Also, my mom once said that her sister developed eye problems because of that but I don't know if that was just to scare me or what.

you can but the doctor says it is not safe. here are a few reasons it can make your eye sight worse due to strain on the eyes. you can get a serious eye infection such as pink eye becasue the eye is not able the "breathe". these are just to name a few. If you leave them in over night and for a few days i would suggest taking them out every so often to get a little "rest".

It's not really ok. Because if you do leave them in overnight, then the next time you take them out you peal the first layer of your eye off. Unless you have those special kind where you can leave them in one time overnight.
But generally your'e not suposed to.

its not good for your eyes, they cant breathe properly, and they will get dry and you will eventually get an eye infection. Eye infection is no big deal, your eyes get red and you have to go to the eye doctor and get some drops that burn like hell. i dont recommend doing it. instead take them out and wear your glasses when your home watching tv or on the computer

NOOO! the contact will dry and adhere to your retina. so when you go to take your contact out you can tear the retina. also with all the drying you will slowly damage your retina. which can cause you to go blind. you should never, never sleep with your contacts in.
p.s. the optometrist can tell when he does an exam if you've been naughty, and they do not like when patients misbehave.

i wouldnt to be on the safe side because my friend wore her contacts to bed but eventually her eyes got all puffy and she had to go to the doctor and wear sunglasses for like 5 days.
