He went to the doctor (neurologist) and they took lots of cat scans and x-rays. Said there was nothing wrong.
He has headaches all the time any more and his neck hurts like hell.

The bed was new bed was causing problems, we switched back to the old style and he loves the bed. He sleeps without a pillow on his back.

Maybe it is the mattress/bed he is sleeping on. Either way, have his doctor prescribe a muscle relaxer and see if it improves. If it does, maybe working out strengthening his neck muscles, etc. would be of some benefit.
Otherwise, I would see a different doctor and have more tests run...

Change pillows,switch sides of the bed and find what is causing the extreme stress.No more than one good pillow and really try to break the habit of sleeping with his arms above shoulder level. Good luck.

This is migraine and there is hardly any medicine to treat it!
We treat migraine with acupuncture with 100% success.
If you don't get a skilled acupuncturist see where you can get drumstick leaves. Just two drops of their leaves in opposite side nostril or both can solve your problem. You can try betel leaf also if drumstick leaves are not available.

you can try the alexander method. this involves changing the way he moves and sits. this will help somewhat. takes a bit of time tho.

See how he sleeps. Whats his posture like. Get him to get an ergonmic assesment at work

Take a mutual massage course together.

put a plywood board between the mattress and the springs.......take ibuprophen......aspirin on a full stomach
