No, you can not tell him some fairy tale. It is the one's who get the fairy tales that never fully accept what it means to be a man. This has absolutely nothing to do with sex. Tell him that it is about responsibility; maturity; respect; morals, values; integrity; setting goals and working toward goals; setting standards of what he will and will not accept in life and sticking to them. If more fathers get the straight facts when they are boys, and pass those straight facts on to their sons and so on and so on, our world would be a much more cohesive place to live. This same is true for women and our daughters.

It's not a fairy tale to say, "When you reach puberty, your testicles become larger, pubic hair begins to grow, under arm hair begins to grow and the area between the top lip and nose looks like it needs to be washed (or the lip hair needs to be shaved). Wet dreams soil the bed sheets,Oops---Dad did I go too far?.........
Wake up dad, wait and wait and your son will be asking, "Dad, I know a boy becomes a man. When? Since you are keeping it a secret-- I don't know. Then, Dad-- How does a man become a Dad?"

Depending on how old he is. What does it mean to be a man to you? It's just not having sex if that is what you are thinking of. I think, as much as I can with being a girl, that a boy becomes a man when he takes responsibility for his actions. When he can make his own decisions and live with what comes of them. Becoming a man is becoming a parent and doing the best job you can. If he is old enough tell him some stories of your own life. Good Luck to you and your son.

The only way you can answer this and many other (soon to come) questions to your son is with total honesty, if you want your father-son relationship to be honest, open and loyal. Of course you must take in consideration your son's age. But at any age you may want to clarify what is especifically what he wants to know, and what he already knows. kids are very smart, but unfortunatelly, most of the time, they might get the wrong answers to critical questions, like this one. Ask him when does he think he will become a man? Or what does becoming a man means to him? Answer accordingly to his reply. No fairy tales, just think that he can google this question and the answers he will find! You don't want that. You always want your son to see you as the major source of information. It already seems that he sees you that way. Don't be afraid. My 5 yr. old ask me the other day How do babies come out of momy's bellies? I reverse the question on him. How do you think they come out? He looked at me and said, doctors cut momys belly and they come out. and then they sow momy's bellies out. I said yes, that is exactly how babies come out. (After all, he was sort of describing a C section). He asked if it hurted me, when he came out, I said yes, then he hug me and kiss my belly, and said I am so sorry that it had to hurt you, so that I could come out. I said it's ok, as soon as I held you in my arms and kissed you, all my pain went away. He smiled and kissed me again saying I love you very, very much momy.
Good luck, & God bless.

That all depends on your measure of a man. The law says a boy is a man when he turns 18, but I think a man is different than just an age. What do you think makes a man?

haha,
Sir, I am a 22 year old male, and I have a daughter and I am fearing the question where do babies come from. I would suggest tell him that a boy becomes a man when he learns the value of life, love, friendship, and can appreciate not having the things he could have, and be happy with what he's got.
Good luck.

Some people would say at age 18. Me, I would say that if he's, say, 14 or 15, but has a lot of maturity, not necessarily by body hair and such, then he could be classified a man at that age.
I hope this helps.

Then dont. Tell him the truth. When did you feel that you became a man? It's not an overnite experience. It's more a matter of time and maturity.

You have to be kidding. A man is not how long he lives or how many children he has. A man is someone who knows himself so well that he is not afraid of seeming foolish in the service of love. That's it.

When a boy becomes a man is when he starts sprouting facial hair and his voice changes, silly old daddy bear.
