This is one of the only TRUE vet emergencies! He sounds like he has a urinary tract obstruction and if he is not treated NOW he will very likely not survive,

this is what he has, they gave some meds and sent us home becasue i can not pay for the vet bills, it is been almost 24 hrs now, i dont know what i can do for him. there is no way that i can take him back to the vet, i just done have any money to do that.
he is my daughter cat, and i dont know what i can do to make him better, i am not even sure if he will make it though that night, please any help you can give on what to do now would be great.

It seems like you genuinely are trying to help this poor little thing. I'm so sorry. Just as an off chance that you may be able to help it, do a Google search on "alternative pet medicine" If I can find any which I think could help you, I will send them but please don't wait for me. Not only is your kitty in bad condition he is also in pain so you can't wait. It could be that you may be able to find something which is fairly inexpensive to at least give the cat some comfort.

Let's all try to help this caring person. Google search everyone for alternative medicines for animals.

Try applying for Care Credit which also covers veterinary services and find a vet that accepts that tonight https://www.geonlineapply.com/servlet/MCSGenericApp . Also call all your friends and relatives and BEG for money so you can get your cat back in TONIGHT!!!

SURGERY IS THE ONLY WAY TO TREAT URINARY OBSTRUCTIONS--THERE IS NO OTHER WAY! Call any vet and they'll tell you this so don't take my word for it.

If you are unable to afford medical care or find any money from anyone it may be in the best interest to take him to the animal shelter who will kindly euthanize him so that he doesn't suffer. Urinary tract obstruction is painful and w/in 24-48 hours cats will die as you probably have learned. What happens it the urethra opening is blocked and the bladder needs to drain if it cannot it builds up and unfortunately ruptures the urine into the abdominal cavity which is fatal.

Diet changes will ONLY help AFTER surgery is performed. Not before so the person below me doesn't know what they are talking about.

Cyaoza's advice is right on the money! The only way to cure him is to have surgery now. He is in so much pain and this is a horrible situation, I know. I was there. I put my cats operation on my credit card! You NEED to apply for that credit and tell the vet your situation and go now! HE IS DIEING! Trust me! I can't believe the vet let you take him home. Tell the vet you can't afford it and he might let you make payments. You shouldn't have gotten an animal if you weren't ready to pay for a vet. If this was your daughter you would be in jail for denying her medical attention! I feel an animal is that same as a child! You are killing him and making what could be his last few hours miserable. Honey, I'm not trying to be mean, but you need to understand the severity of this. HE NEEDS the operation! I'm sorry! I know you are trying, but it isn't enough you need to take actions NOW!

If the cat has a blockage they need to put a catheter into his penis and move the blockage. If it is just an infection this will clear with antibiotics.
I have had cats with both.
E.R. vets have cost me 100's to 1000's of dollars.
I now feed all my cats c/d food.
Helps them not get stones and blockage.
If the cat has a blockage and can't urinate he will die painfully.
You can always ask the vet if you can pay on time or volunteer to help pay off bill. If it is just to much money put the cat down.
I know that sounds awful but with vet care being so insanely high we sometime have to make the hard decisions.

ok. this is from the cat wellness book:

1. Use firm but gentle manipulation of the cat's penis to try to squeeze the obstruction out. Try rolling the penis between your fingers, working from nearest the body to the tip of the penis. If your motions are being effective, gritty-feeling white or blood-tinged material will be expressed like toothpaste from the end of the penis. If you releive the obstruction completely, urine will immediately flow.

2. If you removed some sandy material but urine does not flow, try to gently very gently press the bladder (you must be careful here and really be gentle becuase you can easily rupture the bladder if you are not careful). This will sometimes result in free-flowing urine.

Good Luck!

I've gotten a CareCredit card, and unless they've changed since I applied, there is no interest if the bill is over $300, and you make every payment for the next 12 months. Then get your daughter to pay you back for for the next year, if that's possible. (I'm know my parents wouldn't let me get away with not paying for my cats' expenses.)

For tonight:
1) Pray
2) get a card and pay it off and get treatment
if that's not possible
3)force water to dissolve it, maybe with a bit of cranberry juice. I've tried a baby bottle, but my cats just don't like stuff poked in their mouths, and don't think to suck. A syringe works better.

Note! This is not coming from an expert! Just a poor grad student who also tries to come up with creative home alternatives to expensive vets.

a decent vet will help you and not let the animal suffer....this is extreme pain and sure death for a cat.....call another vet, explain that you can pay this amount now and in 1 wk etc. there are NO home remedies for this problem....

Most vets will let you sign up for a payment plan. They don't want to turn people away if their pet is having a life threatening emergency.

This cat is your responsibility. Take him back to the vet NOW.

Get a cash advance on your credit cards, rob your kids piggy banks, whatever you have to do to pay the vet.

If you have food on your table and clothes on your back, you CAN afford to pay the vet.

poor cat, you cant let it suffer either fix the problem or put the cat down. My cat had the same problem and it is very treatable and the cat will be fine with treatment but without it you are torturing the cat keeping it alive for your benefit while its in alot of pain.make a decision NOW
