Leave it alone at first (maybe some aloe if it hurts). If it is skinless, use antibiotic ointment. Once the wound closes, apply then use Mederma--a product for surgical scars (at about any pharmacy). If the skin is still discolored even after the wound is totally closed, cut a lemon in half and gently spread the lemon over your skin. Over time, lemon juice (straight from the lemon--not pre-packaged) bleaches skin (works for acne blemishes, too). Lemon juice is likely to sting a bit at first, though.

Don't fret about it, there is certainly no reason to be desperate. Just apply something soothing for now (a good first aid burn care lotion or ointment or a few drops of aloe vera (it's chilling and not greasy). And then... leave it alone. Just avoid smothering the burn with concealer the first few days as it will dry it out and lengthen the healing time.
The chances of a scar are minimal and highly improbable unless you 'play' with the burn too much. Try to put your mind on something else for a while to distract yourself.

Keep it clean (no bacteria) and moist Don't let it dry out. Wash it twice a day with betadine or at least a good antibacterial soap. If it's been over 24 hours use a burn ointment on it at all other times. A fresh burn don't use an ointment as it traps heat a good antibacterial cream. I got burned bad one time with roofing tar on my cheek, I kept it moist with Foille brand ointment until it completely healed. I have no scars. A band-aid is fine as long as it has open end to let it breathe, but keep the ointment on underneath.

my cousin was in a huge machinery accident, which nearly saw him lose his entire left arm. after extensive surgery he was left with massive scars, but now they are slightly faded.
my mum had surgery to remove a mole, and now her scar is completely gone.
the secret is Arnica cream.
this is for if your burn starts scarring (which shouldnt happen, since im sure the burn is not very deep). just pick some up from a pharmacy (get the strongest type, with no added fragrance and all that stuff). itll fade and repair your scar.
for a burn, i have a senior first aid certificate, and the correct procedure is to apply ice WRAPPED IN A TOWEL or similar to the area for 2 hours, then rest for 2 hours. only after a week should u start applying ointments.
the best one is Lucas' Paw Paw Ointment......used it since i was tiny
hope that helps

some burns take a very long time to heal, especially if it gets infected. Take good care - apply an antiseptic cream for a few days. At worst, go see a dermie for advice. I was scalded by steam from boiling water - took 7 years to get rid of the scar near my elbow

Well it's hard to know immediately whether you will scar but there are many ointments available in most drug stores which can help to reduce and prevent scarring. Other than that the best you can do is to run it under cool water and avoid touching it or rubbing it.

That will go away. I got a lighter burn on my chin (don't ask) and it went away in about 3 months.
