Ask your mom to get you a dog and get your brother a snake! Your mom will much more likely get you a dog if you act like you think a snake (or a skunk) would be a cool pet. If you're pretty young, you might want to start with a guinea pig or a kitten since these are easier to take care of. Your mom will end up caring most for your puppy.

do you live with your brother? if not who cares? if you do live with him and are younger, the better question is if your parents are prepared time and financially wise to help you care for a dog.

maybe compromise on something. like if you take care of the dog completely, then he shouldn't mind. and maybe get your parents to back you up on getting one.
