asked me to chauffeur him and his friends to the Prom. I think the only reason he asked me is because I bought a brand new Jaguar for Christmas last year. And for that reason I feel like he is using me to show off. I need some advice. What should I tell him?

maybe you should take him and his friends to the prom. after all its only one night, and its a special night. what grade is he in anyway. what grade are they in. maybe for there Senior prom, several of u can go in and rent them a limo for the night and make it magical. and if u chose to drive them, they'll remember it for a long time.

remember that....you only "feel like" he is using you because you drive a brand new Jaguar. Don't assume. You should ask him this before you assume anything. Has it ever occurred to you that maybe he wants you to chauffeur him because he trust you? If you really think it's because of your car, then you can test him by telling him you will take him, but tell him that you will be using an old car & not your Jaguar. See what he says about that. If he complains about it, then you definitely know he's using you & for that, you should confront him & talk to him. Teach him that using people is not the right thing to do.

Tell him yes---all kids want to impress their friends---it sounds harmless and a chance for you to do a big favor for a kid who will remember it the rest of his life. Just be nice and agreeable--what do you have to lose? Wash the car and allow him to have a fun, elegant prom----overdo the show and be cool---let him have his evening. Just make sure you have an intelligent conversation where you have his undivided attention---tell him no alcohol or drug use will be tolerated by anyone in your car. You expect all the kids to act grown up.It is a stepping stone in the social life of young people---you really can be a major influence here----no demands, no pressure, no regrets. If there is any kind of mistakes, just tell him that your were disappointed and will take a lot of time before you do him any more favors of any kind. Smile when you pull up and be part of the fun.Open the doors like a chauffer---ham it up and I'll bet you will feel good about doing it.If you don't want to do it --I will.

Of course its because of the jag he probably thought it was obvious and that you understood. Why else would he ask you to take him. If you were willing to drive him before then why should things be any different now. If you have the gas and the free time then why not? it wont hurt to let him look cool in front of his friends. Do him a favor and just take him.

Hey, if it were your prom, would you rather show up in mom's minivan or your cousin's Jag? My 12yo son loved to have his uncle pick him up from school in his M3... got a kick out of showing off to his friends.
If you're feeling used, tell him. Make it a barter thing... yeah, you'll drive them... but he's going to WASH that Jag every week for the next month.

Tell him yes, because no offense but there's nothing wrong with your cousin wanting to look good in front of his friends. Maybe he does want to show off, but the fact that he picked you and your car should flatter you.

if i were you i would say no because its your new jaguar. chances are him and his friends will get to rowdy and ruin the interior of your car and since its prom shouldnt he and his friends have a date in which they can all chip in for like a rented limo with a driver?

whatever the reason to why he asked, it shouldn't really borther you so much! who wouldn't like to be seen in a nice car take it as a compliment! Let them enjoy their time and make it fun for them.

I'd explain to him that you Worked hard for the car and that his showing some "bling" would just be a superficial act for his friends!

i think you should tell him that you hope he isn't using you to show off. if he can prove to you that he isn't making use of you, then u will chauffeur him
