first of all, are you taking it for a bladder infection? it's used to treat mild bladder infection, and prevent it.
it has quite a few side effects, such as, nausea, dark urine, mild stomach pain, and possibly sleepiness. those are the only ones I can think of right off the top of my head. if you're having any side effects other than these, I would tend to think it's a reaction to the drug, and tell you that you need to contact your pharmacist or doctor to get your medication switched.

I found the medicatin nitrofuantoin, which is prescribed most commonly for urinary tract infections but can be prescribed for other conditions (though it didn't list which ones). Possible side effects were lengthy including nausea, vomiting, difficulty breathing. I would do a Yahoo search and get the entire list and the common or rare possibilities of these happening, especially the more serious ones.
