Vista is the new windows operating system. Now, yes, it is cool, well... it looks cool. However, it is a huge memory hog, and if you don't have the latest and greatest system components, you can not run the new "aero" interface. As for getting a trial... microsoft closed the customer preview program some time ago, so it is not possible to download the release candidate. You can, however, run a virtual browser test drive on the microsoft windows vista business edition page. Just go to microsoft.com/windowsvista and click on the information for small businesses link.

It's not free. Windows Vista is the next Microsoft Operating system.
Once there was Windows 95, then Windows 98, then Windows XP, next will be Windows Vista.

It's too late to download the evaluation copy. However, if you're buying a new computer now, make sure you are eligible for a free Windows Express Upgrade. It will only cost you a couple of bucks for shipping and handling and you're on your way to a new excitement in computing.
