Hi there. You can try two options ...access the task manager by right clicking on the task bar, if not working ...

Go to this site and download the registry file as follows:

enable
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edi...
disable
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edi...

Also check if you have recently downloaded/installed new programs, or strange behaviours .. prob a virus or malware.

NOTE: You need to have admin approval before doing this, unless you're the admin!!

Hopes this helps!

It sounds like whoever your computer administrator did not give you rights to the task manager. Even with a standard guest or limited account, you can pull up the task manager. This would lead me to believe that your computer administrator wrote a special security policy. You will need to contact them and have them give your rights to use task manager.

Click Start -> Run. Type in "regedit" (no quotes) and hit Enter.

* Search for HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ System.

* Look for: DisableTaskMgr. Click on REG_DWORD. Value: 1=Enable this key (disables TaskManager); Value: 0=Disable (actually enables TaskManager)

* Close RegEdit

* Reboot your machine.

try it will work 100%

and type in "taskmgr.exe"

Do this registry tweak
go to Start>>run>>type regedit and navigate to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies\ System

In the right-pane, delete the value named DisableTaskMgr
Close Regedit.exe
OR
Open Notepad and copy past the following..

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
"DisableTaskMgr"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Group Policy Objects\LocalUser\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
"DisableTaskMgr"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\system\]
"DisableTaskMgr"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"DisableCAD"=dword:00000000
