There are so many consequences, that it is not worth it. I did mine on my own 8 years ago as I can not stand anyone else coming near me with needles, but I actually had a friend that was a body piercer sit in and over see me. He warned me that major problems could occur if you hit one of the 2 veins that run down your tongue. Some people can't get their tongue pierced because of the placement of these veins, so you should get that checked first. I regret doing mine myself. I did not get any major peoblems, but the minor ones were enough to drive me nuts. First, I used a bar that was too short, and when the pressure of the piercing pushed on the bar it ended up making a huge scar on my toung where the ball was pressing in my toung. Second, it is crooked and because it was angled it ended up cracking a lot of my teeth, and now for the past 8 years I have had to under go extensive dental work.

Think about it long and hard, because it may not be worth it for you, I know if I had the chance to go back in time, I would have never done it. I use to have a beautiflu smile, and now I am embarassed to smile because of my teeth, and for what a piece of metal in my tounge that serves no purpose (not even sexual). And you can't really say it is to be an individual since everyone has been there and done that.
If you insist on getting it done, go professional. If you are too young to get it done professionally, wait it out, by then, it will probably have already gone out of style. Save a beautiful smile!, Think about it!

Every fiber of my being is screaming DON"T, but being a stupid kid you won't listen to what others are saying if it's not what you want to hear. I do give you credit for at least asking what the consequences can be. Infection is the first horror that comes to mind. What are you going to pierce it with? Has it been properly sterilized and then what are you going to keep in it (tongue ring?). Where did it come from and what happens if you can't stand the pain and can't go through with it or your tongue jerks and you put a whole in your tongue where you don't want it. I say tongue piercing is stupid, but why not at least wait until you save up the money and get it done professionally and get instructions on how to keep it healthy. Yuck!

Are you NUTS!?!?!?
Don't you know how high the risk of infection is even when done by a Professional??? Why in the freak would you want to even ATTEMPT to do this to yourself.

Other than EXTREME pain, possible DISFIGUREMENT, possible LONG TERM DAMAGE, possible INFECTION that would require a Dr visit and antibiotic, and otherwise just getting it not done in the proper place on the tongue-which could cause SERIOUS bleeding????

ALSO considering that your SPELLING is horrible, I don't think I'd trust you to do a shish-ka-bob let alone PIERCE your own tongue!

If you're not old enough to go yourself and get it done professionally, then you need to forget about it.

To me, and im no longer a freak that likes discomfort or some thing, none of them damage that undesirable. Its in trouble-free words a 2d of discomfort. and that i advise a 2d. I truly have 20 piercings. 7 in a million ear, 8 in the different. I truly have the anti-eyebrow, nostril, tongue and abdomen button. also had an eyebrow, notwithstanding it grew out. So from adventure, it in trouble-free words hurts a 2d. The tongue hurts the worst after because your tongue swells up about 3 circumstances the traditional length, u cant devour or communicate excellent, and u ought to take surprising care of it. have relaxing and good success!

Hello,

First of all, I would HIGHLY recommend you do NOT do this yourself!! If after reading about the consequences of tongue piercing you still want to do it, please go to a professional!

Some of the consequences of piercing your tongue would be:

Excessive bleeding
Infection - There is a plethora of bacteria inside the mouth
Possible nerve damage
Healing is very slow as the tongue is constantly moving
Piercings might chip or crack your teeth and injure your gums
Trouble speaking, swallowing, chewing
Your tongue might swell enough to block your airway
You increase your chances of secondary infections because the bacteria in your mouth can enter your bloodstream. In turn it could travel to your heart for life threatening consequences

Hope this is informative.

You do not need to do it on your own you are suspose to have license to do it. You can kill yourself if you hit the center vein running threw the bottom of your tongue in the center. You will bleed to death and there is nothing they can do for it. You really need to just get about 30 dollars and get it done professionally. Good luck I have mine done and it didnt hurt at all I just got a little freaked out when a little blood came out of my mouth for a few hours at first but not much at all. Your tongue will swell probably so make sure you keep ice in your mouth as much as you can and use mouth wash after drinking or eatting. Dont drink or eat until atleast 6 hours later if not longer. Be safe.

Seriously, stop! Don't do that, you can loose taste buds, or paralyze your tongue. I've had my tongue pierced for like 7 years. Get it done professionally, or wait if you are not old enough

Infection, mainly. Other than being laughed at by children, of course.
