Windows ME was the shortest lived of the Microsoft Windows family operating system (O/S). It could be argued it was a limited edition because it was introduced specifically to mark the Millennium. However, there is no doubt it was the worst performing of the group. Windows 2000 professional has been to date the most stable and reliable of the O/S.
If games is your main objective then ME should be your choice for all other reasons choose 2000

Windows 2000 Pro is much much much better than Windows ME.
FIrst of all, Win2k is built on the NT framework, using the NTFS file system. This makes it better for multitaking, and makes it much more stable, since it is a more recent kernel.
WinME is a continuation on the Win95/98 kernel that still runs on top of a DOS core. It is very laggy and prone to crashes.
Stick with Win2k.

Windows ME is a joke. its worse than windows 98 and also its based off of the 98 kernel..
GO with Windows 2000 Pro, or even better Windows XP Pro..
they are both based off the NT kernel which is way better.

Windows 2K pro, without a doubt, no questions. Windows ME is just Windows 98 with some broken add-on crap thrown on top.
2000 is very stable, and will run anything you would need it to.

windows 200 professional hands down. Windows ME was an example of how microsoft admitted that they rushed the release of their operating system and ended up causing half of the world a huge headache. There were tons of problems with it, including the inability to recognize or join domains. It was so bad that microsoft had to recall it... hopefully that won't happen with the upcoming vista release! :)

I would go back to Windows for Workgroups before I used ME..
I've been using Win2K since '98 and will be for a while longer...

Windows 2000 Professional...Its alot more stable than ME, which I wouldn't install on my worst enemy's computer.
