what happens to the people who survive a nuclear attack?

my dad says you body parts will badly change. like you teeth can be on your nose. do you still look the same. are you still like any human being.

I think your dad was pulling your leg a little. Nuclear weapons generate intense heat, so there will be a lot of burn victims among the survivors (severe skin scarring, even loss of ears and noses as can happen with people who survive any bad fire). The probability of getting cancer and developing other health problems, such as intestinal disorders, would go up as well. There were many survivors of the attacks at Hiroshima and Nagasaki during WWII. Other than the ones who suffered the most severe burns, they don't look outwardly disfigured. Mutations among the survivors and their offspring is pretty much a myth.

There are no major mutations after an attack like that, you will most likely get cancer and get a tumor, but your body will not mutate unless you arent born yet, in which the mother would have a stillbirth or the baby would have minor abnormalities like an extra finger or radiation posining. It also depends on the level of radiation you are exposed to. If you are exposed to alot, you will get radiation sickness, if less than you will probably get cancer sometime in your life.

mostly people who survive get radiation poisoning and end up with cance. but babies who are born from a nuclear exposed mother will be mutated, and probably not live very long...
