Yes New Orleans will have Mardi Gras! Mardi Gras is a tradition among others in New Orleans! The only time New Orleans has not celebrated Mardi Gras is during WW2 when the public thought that it wasn't fair to the troops overseas if we were celebrating and having fun while our troops were dying in the war! Besides that New Orleans has never cancelled Mardi Gras! I was born in New Orleans and have been to Mardi Gras every year since I was born and I love it! I hope this answers your question!

Sure, nothing has ever stopped Mardi Gras besides wars and a police strike. It is too important to the city to cancel, both socially and economically. The majority of the parades run from February 9th to February 20th, which is Mardi Gras day this year. The weekend before Mardi Gras is when the largest of the parades roll.

New Orleans didn't cancel it last year, although it was not quite as big and flambouyant as usual. They will have it again this year. Mardi Gras is not just a festival, it is part of the basic spirit of the city.
