I don't soak any lentils
I have an orange lentil in my kitchen which cooks real fast & they are not whole ones like
the green ones which take double the time to cook
maybe 20 mins
they are so healthy & handy to have in the house especially if you are broke & I love the green ones best

I don't soak any lentils of any kind (they cook pretty quickly without soaking, usually about 20 minutes). I think some recipes for Indian dals that start with lentils suggest soaking them first, but I've never heard of soaking them otherwise.

You always want to clean them before you begin, but you don't need to soak them for any length of time.
