Mormon haters hate mormons for various reasons: They are bitter because some mormon might have treated them poorly in their life and they take and ignorant stance and judge an entire religion. Many religions teach alot of anti-mormonism in their churches, instead ofr teaching what they believe about Christ.
FACT: Mormons do not paint their doors blue (never even heard that one before)
FACT: Mormons worship Jesus Christ as their Saviour, The Son of God, and an All powerful being.
FACT: A Christian is someone that tries to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. So therefore, mormons are Christians. Consider the actual name of their church: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
FACT: The Mormons read from the King James version of the Bible (Old and New Testament).
FACT: The common nickname "Mormon" cane about due to the church's belief is 'The Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ."
FACT: The Mormons do not consider The Book of Mormon as a replacement Bible, but rather a companion volume of scripture.
FACT: The Book of Mormon does not conflict the Bible.
FACT: Mormons are highly ridiculed and attacked by preachers of other churches, yet other churches are never taught against in a Mormon Church.

I have my own theories, but overall most everyone here is correct.
For me, like it was already said, misunderstanding and ignorance is a key. Although many don’t think what we believe is correct, they are at least open enough to realize the Mormons are people too. However, there are some that think it’s there mission to disprove every thing about the church, even on YA. Many also get Mormons mixed up with other religions (proving they don’t understand), making the Mormon church seem even more wrong. For example, mistyfan69 (no offense) thinks that Mormons only have a certain amount of people go to heaven. Sorry, she has the Mormons mixed up with Jehovah Witnesses. Mormons believe that every can and will go to “heaven”, just on varying degrees. In Europe, many think (or at least thought) that Mormons were Amish do to a few bad translations in some Amish based movies. No wonder people are confused.
Next, if there really was a true church of Christ on this earth, how do you think Satan would react? He would try to destroy and discredit it. He would embarrass members making them leave and confuse non-members to keep them away. He would present lies and rationalizations to explain why that church isn’t true. In other words, he would do his best to stop it. The Mormon Church is one if the highest in enduring persecution and false accusations. I’ll let you decide what that means. But, now of course, Satan wouldn’t want you to know that either, otherwise it’s a dead giveaway as too which church is right. So he may poke at other churches, or work his magic n other ways. You know he’s VEY clever.
P.S. I wouldn’t buy stock in blue doors anytime soon.

It's because it is the true and full Gospel, and Satan is going after it. You don't see Catholic haters running around do you? Well, we're both Christian!
Here are some of the myths-
1) Mormonism is a cult-no it is not
2) Mormons believe in multiple lives-that policy was around for only a few years near the beginning of the church, i do not know the reason why but that practice no longer is around
3) Mormons are not christian-yes we are, we just don't use crosses as a sign-because we celebrate the everlasting life of christ, rather than his mortal death

Trollwzrd said it well and most defined. But the main reason why Mormons are hated is because we are now in the latter-days and Satan is pulling out all the stops to render his influence against the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Those people falling under Satan's influence are doing exactly what he wants: to intimidate, to brow-beat, to persecute, and to scorn God's church on earth. How many other churches suffer such ridicule and scorn other than the Mormon Church?
What is this about blue doors? That's another myth spread around by anti-Mormons and the ignorant. Jesus Christ is the Messiah, our Savior and Redeemer in whom we go to in prayer to the Father in Heaven.
He is the God of this earth, the same that spoke to Moses and called him and all the other prophets, both anciently and present. Jesus Christ is the Great Creator of all the worlds known and unknown to man, and through the divine investiture of the Father, continues as the great Jehovah.
He beckons all of us to perfect ourselves so we can return to the Father's presence and be more like Him.
Doesn't every father want the same for his children? So, too, does our Father in Heaven.

Blue doors? Really.
Mormons are usually nice people, generally speaking. I rather like them, but it is their faith towards which I have objections. Many beliefs cross over into Free Masonry, and others are outlandish.
Galatians 1:6
I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
The angel that teaches, and the pastor that teaches such doctrines are cursed, according to the Bible.

Because they are scared of us. They don't realize it, but a very small part of them knows that we are right and Satan stirs up an evil hatred in their minds against us to keep them out of the Church. He wants all mankind to be miserable like unto himself.
They also do not understand because they go to the wrong sources- ie, calling a dentist to put out a fire or calling a pilot to build you a house. Non-mormons do not have the understanding of the Church that LDS do, so if people want to know, they really should ask us instead of believing second-hand accounts.
p.s. I am mormon, and just to disprove several theories: I have no horns, my doors are all either white or black, I do not believe in polygamy... get the picture?

If anyone tells you they HATE anyone, ignore them, their advice isn't worth having.
I love Mormons but hate Mormonism, the religion. It is a false teaching that claims to be Christian. I can tell you without doubt that the founder of Mormonism was a false prophet/teacher. Joesph Smith was the founder and his story is at best, bizarre, as are his teachings. It is sad that so many have fallen for this cult and have commit ed their lives to it.
Make no mistake about it, I love Mormons, I hate any false teaching that claims a gospel that is different from the one found in the Bible. The book of Mormon is false teaching, a heresy of lies.

I think so many people have been belittled at their very own doorstep by "Elders" who look like they are all of 19 who tell people that the religions that they follow are bogus and there isn't any other one but the Mormon faith has alot to do with it. Every time you say something to this effect they will always say "Oh no, we don't do that" but, everyone I know has had it happen to them and also I have had one tell me face to face that it is o.k. to actually lie about some matters because they say if the end justifies the means then it is o.k. for instance when Abraham lied about Sarah being his sister instead of his wife.

The blue doors thing is a load of crap. Mormon haters hate mormons for the same, stupid reasons that they hate blacks, Jews, Catholics, Muslims, gays, and Mexicans.
Why?
Because they're WASPs, that's why.

Mostly because people perceive them as pests. The missionaries come to the door, all clean-cut and pleasant, and attempt to sell their silly religion on the residents, who usually have better things to do than to listen to such tripe. Of course, the experience is good for the kids, who learn much about dealing with a potentially hostile public, but that doesn't make it more pleasant for the gentiles. When the Mormons keep to themselves, they are no more dangerous than any other religion.
