well we have to types of dolphins, the porpoise and the fish. first off why would you want to eat the fin of such a smart creature that is protected as well. The fish really doesnt have a lot of meat and i imagine flavor in its fin to really make it a good meal or soup. I haven't had shark fin soup but i imagine that some where back in time a dolphin fin soup could have possibley been made and the decided the shark fin one was better, but then again that may have not happened at all. i also think it is a illegal to sell anypart of the dolphin (porpoise)

The dolphin we eat is a type of fish, not the porpoise like Flipper. Dolphin fins are spiny bones and blood vessels.

definite-I really have. The flavor of shark-fin soup comes regularly from the common of its broth. The fin itself, sliced into lengthy, skinny products.a contact of floor pepper, black vinegar or brandy to flavor.

I don't know, I'm guessing cause dolphin (whales) have bones and not cartilage in their fins.
Sharks have cartilage, and it probably makes a goey soup
