blurry and I couldn't see very well for awhile and it scared me. Just wondering if there would be any bad effects from this - I've never had that happen before. Luckily my eye returned to normal after a few minutes. Is that normal?

Many of the nerves in the face are interconnected with one another. they have many branches going to several different places. Just being a few millimeters too deep near the cheek can cause anesthtic to venture into your parotid salivary gland, which contains a nerve plexus that would numb the entire half of your face!

Most nerves in the mouth come from the same cranial nerve that innervates part of your eyes and parts of your ear, so it is possible to hit these branches when trying to efficiently anesthetize a tooth. The good news is that, these things sometimes happen, and just like anesthesia on the nerves in your teeth, it usually wears off, but can still be hazardous if a nerve is penetrated by the needle tip. Everyone's anatomy is different, and although there are "maps" of the anatomy, there is no guarantee that everyone will be wired that way. Be sure to tell your dentist about this so that he may explain it himself, and so that he will be more careful next time.

Doing the freezing, can cause some unpleasant side effects but it is from the freezing. Depends how deep the needle goes. Not to worry

since it went back to normal, I would say that you are lucky..i have heard many things about getting novocaine shots where there are risks, and that it can really mess up parts of your body..i would maybe choose a different dentist next time, to make sure that doesnt happen again
