Lately my cat has been having this liquid coming out of her eye. At times she favors that eye and closes it and keeps the other one open. What is it?

She probably has an infection (herpes). It's a pretty common thing for cats, but please take her to your vet to get treatment. My cat had the full upper respiratory infection when I adopted her, causing her to sneeze and have a watery discharge from her eyes. You need antibiotics to treat this, and usually a cream for the eyes. Herpes is something a cat will always have once they get it, but is only noticeable from an outbreak (watery eyes). My cat only has this happen when she gets stressed. I'll apply the cream if this happens, but my vet said that is all you need to do unless she starts sneezing.

Sounds like she has either an infection or a cold. You could take her to the vet for drops but if you would like to try a less expensive method get some camomile tea from the grocery store. Make tea, let it cool off and then soak either a cotton ball or end of wash cloth and soak/wipe your cats eye. I did it when my cat was sleeping. I just took the soak cloth and swabbed it over her eye. When she awoke of course the liquid went into ther eye. The eye was totally cleared up the next day.

There is also something you can buy at a health food store called "Eurasia". It is an eye treatment which can be used on humans and adults.

She could have a bit of an eye infection. She might need some drops....very easy to take care of and is a quick trip to the vet.

it happens to most kittens and sometimes to older cats. its a sore eye or kinda a eye cold. if you wipe the eye with warm water and a towel about 2 times a day for awhile it will eventially go away. ive had this problem many times!

If it is like a yellow/green color and the cat isnt very old at all then it probably has sore eye. Take it to a very ASAP.
