I went to the emergency room, seriously thinking I was having a heart attack. After all my tests came back completly normal, they diagnosed the problem as imflammation of the muscles around the heart, caused by anxiety. Of course, they gave me xanax, and it helps, but I was wondering what are some natural ways to help out the attacks?

YOU SURE , YOU WASN'T MISS DIAGNOSED CAUSE I THINK INFLAMMATION AROUND THE HEART WOULD BE ENDOCARDITIS , TRUST ME GO TO GOOGLE.COM THATS WHAT YOU WILL FIND... Pericarditis—an inflammation pericardium, which is the fibrous sac that surrounds
the heart 2. Myocarditis—an inflammation of the heart muscle 3

Uuuggghh. I feel your pain... I had a friend who had the EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I kid you not. He simply has been having panic attacks due to stress.. there's nothing wrong with you, especially if the tests came back normal.

I have Anxiety/Panic Disorder, and the way I've learned to cope with the attacks/feelings of anxiety with regular diet/exercise, saunas, massage, and hot baths. But at first, I had to get on Paxil to control it.. I wouldn't recommend Paxil though. I would try Lexapro or Effexor..

But if you don't have a disorder, and are just getting anxious from stress, do the simple thing: avoid the stress or learn ways to lessen/compensate for it. Hope some of that helped..

if they diagnosed a panic attack then no. I have suffered with them for 10 years. Just learn how to handle them and get used to telling yourself you will be ok. You will see on some websites that panic attack should last no longer than 20 minutes. Mine usually last more than 40 minutes. See if your general practitioner can help or recommend a psychiatrist. Lexapro also helped me alot in controling the frequency of the attacks.

heart inflammation: aside from endocarditis, also see myocarditis and pericarditis.
