Some people think that it is not a serious problem at all, or that it is even happening for that matter.

I believe it is, and after seeing Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth," I believe it some more. If half of what was showed in that movie is true, then we are in trouble soon. What do you think?

I think Al Gore's documentary may be a little bit biased, but you would have to be a fool to believe it isn't happening. Personally, in minnesota, we haven't had a real winter in a good five years. Our last bad winter was 15 years ago. I think its happening, and if we dont act now, it will be too late.

Global Warming is true, there are Natural fazes but we are affecting that to a great extent ,with deforestation ,desertification and pollution., especially air pollution. A few weeks ago one of NASA's top scientists concluded that the Arctic Ocean could be nearly ice-free within five years, much faster than all previous predictions. when the north pole is gone , you may have polar bears soon in America ,looking for a home , Calculations do not include the accumulative ,speeding up ,factor with time. the increase in water temperature will get faster all the time as well as the melting, when the ice is all gone the deeper cold Ocean currents will be drastically affected, which in turn will affect the warm currents, since all moving bodies of water are connected in series. This will affect coastal climates ,world wide ,almost instantly. All aquatic flora and fauna will be affected, many dying off and others becoming invasive, And recently In Chiapas ,and Tabasco in Mexico .more then a million people became homeless overnight with water coming up to their roofs ,because of rains from super evaporation from the forests, this had never happened before. Millions of animals died. In India 3000 people died because of super storms . .A few years ago in Europe 3500 people, died during a heat wave ,many of them in France . Right now the average death toll annually is 150.000 due to Global warming . these figures are already out of date and are expected to double soon. In Northern China millions of people are running for their lives because regular dust storms so far have buried 900 villages under the sand and the whole of northern China is turning into a dessert. The Sahara is growing by 7 kilometers a year all around the edges ,like a slow burning fire shriveling up their neighbors In the Kalahari huge rivers have dried up and thousand of species are gone due to their habitats disappearing . The biggest changes are invisible at micro biotic levels species are becoming extinct ,others are multiplying , This affects the insect populations that follow ,and changes in that ,affect all that follows in the food chains , All life is interrelated of both flora and fauna, And since we are on the top of the food chain , we are always the last to know. So Global warming has its toll there are incidents all over the world , However confusion rules the day ,i am beginning to think that SCIENCE HAS BEEN INVADED WITH POLITICS AND HUMAN EMOTIONS The truth is being distorted at high levels, And lies have been weaved in. Some of the real dangers are being hidden because there are no solutions , Public could panic.and Authorities would loose control . Besides Corporations have other priorities and changes will cause loss of profits ,this also affects the truths being published Others facts are exaggerated so that the phenomena can be used to milk the people. This is further complicated with Arrogance that will not admit that mankind could be guilty, or that Gods could be out of control ,unloving or incompetent But I do not think we can make a real difference anymore to change the tide. On a Global scale,Humanity is not co operative enough . The poor regions have other priorities such as daily survival. There is a lot we can do about being more responsible with what we got , In the first world countries many do not care or are more interested in Global Control than Global Warming.

Global Warming is an international problem and a future threat, because the atmosphere of the Earth must remain balanced at all costs. Thus, the addition of pollutants from the within our industrialized cities to the atmosphere causes sudden reactions to occur both in the air and on Land/Water, so that the balance can be retained. For if it wasn't or isn't then we would be dead before this moment in time. Thus, every change that we manipulate in Earth, would no matter what effect the complex web of life that was already created and balanced before we humans came into existance.Thereby, these changes that we create in turn effect the changes nature must do in order to retain that balance. Even if those changes were very harsh, such as more volcanoes and hurricanes....etc.

Global warming is a natural process. On the 'Inconvenient Truth', Good ol' Al makes it seem like, 'yes, well, it has happened before, but never this bad', etc, etc. But it's really not that bad! His pictures and 'statistics' are *so* incredibly fake (the ones of the melted glaciers and the snow in Switzerland are my favorites). He manipulated graph scales to trick ignorant frontrunners who believe whatever they are told!

Now, let's think about this logically. During the 'documentary', he stated that when a glacier fell from North America into the Atlantic at the end of the last ice age that it caused the Gulf Stream to halt, and pushed Europe back into the Ice Age for another thousand years. So if the ice covering Greenland falls off into the Atlantic (like Gore says it probably will in the next 20 years...), won't it solve all of the problems and start the beginning of the next ice age?

Who knows? I don't really care. I just think Gore has successfully made a fool of himself (especially when he took a cheap shot at Reagan during the film, much to my disgust). Also, his 'documentary' is the most annoying thing I have ever watched (I was forced during one of my classes).

So sure, 'the sky is falling', 'the glaciers are melting', 'we're all going to die'. People are going to believe whatever they want to. Too bad it has to affect all of us.

Yes I do. There would have to something happening because of weather changes over the years. For me, the best example is, it is now colder in Southern California. I have lived here all of my life, and in the last couple of years we have temps that are in the 30's at night. I live in the South Bay area, get the ocean breeze in the summer, so we have never needed air conditioning in the house. In the last 3 to 4 years it has been unbearably hot and it does not cool down in the evenings like it used to.

Yes! The largest threat to the human condition that we have ever faced. There is an entire body of scientific literature supporting the case, and, now, we are just beginning to actually see the consequences.
We are reacting too slowing because it requires international collaboration and the short term return on investment is negative. Too few politicians and nations seem unprepared to commit to it, and will continue to move at a 'glacial' pace to come up with meaningful answers.

Unfortunately all the signs point to it being VERY real. There have been historical cyles in temperature in the past (as critics are quick to pont out)
The difference is the unprecedented RATE at which the average temperatures have beem rising.

The biggest threat is to low-lying areas. Some islands are going to disappear.

Al Gore admitted to exaggerating in the documentary.
I don't think it is true. And, actually, geological studies have proven our earth has already gone through the exact same thing. Its called... the ending of an ice age.

I cant believe people are so gullible to believe in some idiotic politician like Gore instead of looking at the PROOF left behind from previous years.

Well I know that it has been like below 30 degrees Farenheit here in the Bay Area (California), and it's NEVER been so cold here before, and its getting warmer in the East Coast, so the current East Coast better not become the new West Coast!!!!! ;)

yes - Global warming is a real threat.

There is snow fall in Norway is not normal either and even President Bush admitted the Polar bears are in danger because the ice flows are breaking off.

Gore is just pointing it out. I believe this was his field in college.
