I had tried to cook steak, any kind of steak, for a long time. Well, I couldn't cook steak & still can't.

When I first met my boyfriend, I cooked him a dinner I thought he would like. I bought Filet Mignon - made this whole great dinner. I had just put it in the oven when he came over. Never thought about it again until he asked me what was burning ?!? OMG ! The dinner! Ugh! It was 2 little burned charcoal pieces! I was horrified as the veggies got cold, salad wilted a little in fridge .... what a nightmare! The only thing I could think was that he thought I was idiotic & now there's nothing to eat. Lest, I had a backup! I had taken chicken out the night before for me, not knowing this dinner was happening. We (HE) cooked the chicken & he laughed about it. I wanted to impress him & I was mortified.
I thought for sure this guy was never going to go out with me again. Years later - happily married !
(I still don't cook the steak, chicken-yes Steak - no) LOL

I went through this phase were I was really into making Jell-O molds. I found one of my grandmother’s 1950s cook books and people were all about the Jell-O molds back then. ( Take a look at some of the weird stuff people did with Jell-O http://www.retrorecipe.com/ )

So I had made a Tuna Mustard Lemon Jell-O mold the week before and was starting on a new project: a Tomato Jell-o mold with deviled eggs suspended in it. As if it wasn’t going to be disgusting enough I accidentally misread the directions and added a cup and a half of salt instead of a teaspoon and a half. It was a big red, salty blob with eggs and mustard suspended inside.…yet I some how got my friends to try it. =)

Oh Jell-O.

That would have to be the first time I made a turkeybreast! I didn't know any better then, but way up in a wadded ball was a bag of innards. Danged pop up was practically burnt off and the thing just kept draining blood. Ewww.

Usually, I don' t mess up, but this time, I was baking some chicken in the oven. I topped it with barbeque sauce and returned to my tv set. I forgot about it and the barbeque turned the chicken blacker than a boot. Guess who was coming to dinner? My Pastor and his wife. I had to run out and 'buy' some barbequed chicken in its place. Now, I pay attention -

I would say the first time I cooked Catfish. It wasn't that it turned out bad, it just had what I thought was a 'catfish' taste.

Turns out it had gone bad before I bought it. I didn't try catfish for many years, so I didn't know it wasn't supposed to taste like that.

Now it's a laugh.

umm it wasn't really a meal it was more of a dessert that i was making with my cousin. They were called CREAM puffs. Well we didn't have the stuff to make the cream out of so we just substituted it with vanilla extract. yeah...it didn't work. They tasted awful. BUT we later found out that they were a great dog treat cause our dogs loved them.

I was 14 and trying to boil hot dogs.Instead of placing them in a pan of water,I placed them in a pan of vegetable oil. They were shriveled up like prunes when I got done with them.(I had a nanny who did all the cooking growing up, so that's why I didn't know the basics)

The first time I attempted macaroni and cheese was terrible...
I was actually doing it correctly...the only problem was that it was an expired box and the powdered cheese was as hard as a rock.
