According to a lot of "ideal body weight" calculators I would be moderately overweight!? Funny thing is, I do not know where this overweightness is. I am 6'5" and weigh 225 lbs.. I work out between 4 and 6 times a week. I max out at 230 lbs and run 2 miles in just over 12 minutes. Does anyone else think I am overweight to the point where it is hurting my health?

I def do not think you are overweight...are you sure you entered your height correctly? My Fiance is 5'11 and weighs 190 so you are smaller than him and he looks great!

well keep in mind that muscle weighs more than fat so the "weight" calculators are not always accurate in that regards. My husband is 6' 6" and 270 and I do not think he is even moderatley overweight. He is just really buff. So I would say if you are happy with the way you look then no, you are not overweight.

P.S. the person athat said 20 percent fat content is obeesety is insane. I am 22 percent and that is very very low for me. 15 percent is athlete and most woman at this percent would be body builders and not have a period anymore. Where do some people come up with these things.

No, I doubt you are overweight. If you work out 4 to 6 times a week, your weight is probably muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat, so that contributes to your overall weight. If you work out, then you are better off than someone who is the "ideal" weight but hasn't worked out a day in his life.

A lot of people think fat when they hear anything over 200 ponds just because most ideal weights are 140 and below but they taller you are the more weight you can carry as long as it is muscle instead of fat.

You're probably not really overweight. If you work out and exercise that much you probably have a good amount of muscle mass which weighs more than fat.

It depends on your body fat %. Height/weight #'s are irrelevant, you can be 6'5", 225 and fat or very fit depending on body composition.

"Eff" the stupid "ideal body weight" calculators. They're bullsh*t as far as I'm concerned because they DO NOT make allowances for people who are muscular and have big, rock solid bones.

Back in my weightlifting days, I was always overweight as far as the charts were concerned but, trust me, I had very little body fat. It was muscle and I have the photos to prove it. But I obsessed with getting down to the weight the charts wanted. Ha! i should have blown them and my stupid general practtioner off.

Instead, I started on a course of yo-yo dieting that has utterly WRECKED my metabolism. Don't you do it. Just say where you are and keep exercising!
