I am going to be traveling throughout Italy this summer and I am trying to convince my Mom that it is safe because she thinks I am going to be sexual harrassed or something.(My parents are kinda prudish and they think that Italian guys are too sexual and they really are freaked out about me traveling by myself.)
Questions:
-How can I get her to calm down and stop worrying about me ?
-Are Italian guys really touchy/sexual, because that's what my parents think ?

He, he.. sorry if I got you worried about that when I answered your other question. You are NOT going to be sexually harassed. As a culture, they are touchers. What I meant by that is that they touch you when they talk to you. they touch your face and your shoulders. Yes the men are fairly macho but are for the most part, respectful enough. I am sure that you will get hit on but it is not like you are going to get chased down and groped!
It is just a cultural thing hon, go into it knowing that and you will have a wonderful time in Italy.

I traveled through Italy myself and it is true they are more touchy. It's because of their culture. In my cultural anthropology class we did a study on different cultures "personal space" the and in Europe the med. sea people usually are more touchy. Rather than the Scandinavian areas are more reserved. But America's "personal space" is larger than almost any culture. Well sorry about the novel and have fun in your travels. It will change your life!

I am american and live in Italy. I have not had a problem with touching. I have seen lots of italians stare but even the women stare here.

Im italian and have been to Italy. Italian men are very passioante and may voice to you if they find you attractive, but they dont just grab you and touch you...i never heard of that before.

the Italian guys I know are.but what guy isn't always thinking of sex.I think it is the person not whether they are Italian.If your parents are so worried take A self deafens class.They are fun.
