The real bad thing is that my chihuahua weighs 5lbs and the puppy we adopted weighs 20lbs. I'm scared that the puppy may inadvertently hurt or squash my chihuahua, just trying to defend himself. They are both males but we also have two other female dogs, one chihuahua, the other a beagle, and they get along great.

Your chihuahua is protecting his space his terf. You needed to introduce the puppy to your chihuahua who thinks that the home is his and the puppy is invading his space. You don't need to get the chihuahua neutured...

I have a german shepherd who was very abused as a puppy and therefor is very scared of everything. We brought over my brothers god, a yellow lab, who is not neutured, to our house. However, we brought the yellow lab into our back yard first and then let out our german shepherd - however to the yellow lab, that terf was his to claim and the german shepherd was invading it - and so he attacked. A few months later, we brought the yellow lab back over to our house and let our german shepherd out first and let them smell eachother through the fence.. then we brought the yellow lab in on a leash.. then we let him go and run... then brought the german shepherd in the house first... after a few minutes, we let the yellow lab in - and we havent had a problem. If anything, the german shepherd has toughened up from jealousy... but you can tell that the house belongs to the german shepherd.

I would recommend seperating the two for some time in seperate parts of the house and little by little, introduce the puppy to the chihuahua.

okay you need to get the chi neutered. I have a male chi and I would never even consider getting another dog at this point due to the fact that chis are very unaccepting of any other breed than their own . My sister and mother have chis and german sheppards in the same house and the chis tell the german sheppards what to do . if the german sheppard does not move fast enough the chi bites it s feet . they can be very demanding and agressive towards other dogs. good luck and I hope I helped.

Are any of them neutered? Because they all need to be. Especially the pit bull. I don't know how much dog experience you have, but owning a pit bull is like owning three dogs in one. They can be great, but they can be 55 pound terrorists, too. Once all your dogs are neutered, then reevaluate their behavior.

Chihuahua's are some of the most vicious and bad tempered dogs. I would never own one. Get a muzzle for the thing.

It sounds like your chi is defending his ladies. Get him neutered if he isn't already. Show him attention before the puppy, make him understand that he isn't being replaced and that the puppy isn't an unwanted guest.
