She told me that our cat " Nina " ( NOT NEEENAA NIN-A ) disowned her, and chose me for an owner. Why do cats do this? All my cat does is lay down and sleep in my room, my mom thinks she needs to stay down stairs and stop. My cat doesnt let anybosy BUT me touch her, or else she will attack them. My mom also told me that egyptians use to respect kittens and cats. Well can i get more info on why they disown there owners And OR choose there owners?

Dude, I have the same type of problem.
This is my friends cat, mind you, he had a heart transplant and I took her (joaine). Now she lived in my house for years and loved me dearly.
Then I had to move outta my place and had to bring her to my ma's house (where I go to frequently) and my Joanie will not give me the time of day.

Total repulsion, unless my ma isn't home, then she will let me pet her.

I gave that cat the best years of my life.

I hope you get an answer, cuz I need one one 2

I don't think Nina disowned your mother. She just chose you to be her number one owner/care giver. They are usually loyal to only one person. It's a beautiful thing that she chose you and you should feel very flattered about that. It means you are kind and loving and Nina recognizes that. They are very smart.

Not only did the Egyptians respect their cats, they worshipped them. They were also used as guards outside of the palace gates and trained to attack anyone trying to get in that shouldn't be there. They worshipped their cats so much that very rich Egyptians used to have their cats put to sleep and buried with them. They believed the cat helped them find happiness and good fortune in the afterlife.

I love your curiosity. Keep asking questions and reading about cats. They are absolutely fascinating animals and much smarter than most people know. Good luck to you and Nina. She is a lucky cat to have you and she will show her appreciation whenever you let her. Just tell Mom she will have to get her own kitty :)

Choose their owners?

I'm a big cat person but the only time I've heard anything remotely close to that is when cats react better to certain people when they awaiting adoption at a shelter or rescue.

It seems that Nina just likes you best. Perhaps your mom made her mad? Did you forge a strong bond with her or is this completely random?

Nina is a beautiful cat. I dont think cats disown their owners. Otherwise mine would have already disowned me. Im originally from Australia and have a cat back at home waiting for me to come back. Now i mean literally waiting! He loves everybody in my family but shows signs of still waiting for me to return. Like one of the others whom answered your question stated, Cats are very loyal, loveable beings. They have an ubundance of people that they keep close when living with many people. They consider us to be"Their" people. Just as we look at them to be our own. They always keep that one special person though among them all. They need to feel a connection with u to consider u their favorite. I'm that favorite person with my cat. Reason for that I believe is because when he was a kitten I was the one in our family whom showed him the most love and affection.

They are incredibly smart & he knows that I'll soon be back. My parents watch him from time to time and say how he'll just sit at my bedroom door waiting for me. He will sleep in my bed to feel closer to me. They know whom they love most. So in your case, YOU are Nina's special person. She would still love your mom, but chooses you to be her number one!

I just looked at Nina and see she is a Tabby cat. I have had cats for many years and do volunteer work with cats. I have always found that Tabby cats are the smartest cats of all.

That sounds just like what my son's cat did to him. He choose a siamese mixed bobtail kitten and after a few months later she abandonded him for my two daughters and somethimes my husband. When he tries to pick her up, she runs and this upsets him greatly. His last cat got sick and ran away. Maybe once or twice a month he can actually pick her up. She doesn't even like to be held by him. Now she is only 1 of 14 cats in our household. This is the only one that does this to him. Cats are very strong willed independent animals that they choose what they like, who they like and where they will sleep. You can't make a cat easily go where she doesn't want to be, maybe yours feels safer upstairs. I have one that will only come to me if I'm one the computer, like right now. My other son rescued a kitten just before Christmas and he spends most of his time in my room, not his owners. Two more of our rescues prefer to be alone, they avoid us and the other cats. My mother has 2 cats that we keep when she goes away and the one, which is sister to my sons siamese mix, runs from me at her house but stayed on lap and slept with me at my house. Three of the cats we have, a mother and two daughters, are fine if one of us holds them, but anyone else, they shred them. Just ask our vet, she got tore up on her face and both arms by one of the daughter cats. I really can't tell you why cats behave like this, I just know that they do and they don't need a reason or explaination to us to behave the way they do. With yours, it sounds like you have your own guard dog. Make sure to keep her nails trimmed, ours have to be clipped every 2-4 weeks. Has your mom thought about getting another kitten that hopefully will stay by her? Enjoy her.

I think my cat was a great human being in his former life, and when I saw him it was love at first site .. he was in a cage with other kittens and he stepped forward... we chose each other!

I brought two other friends to the cat shelter and both picked him too over 30 other kittens without any of my influence.

the day previous, I talked about my friends cat sitting in the backyard very flippantly searching down at a wee, scared-stiff mouse. The mouse grow to be waiting for the kill, notwithstanding the cat looked as notwithstanding she grow to be guarding it. After a lengthy even as, the cat walked on and the mouse scurried off properly into the grass.

Cats are very lovable but, if one owner does not pay attion to it then it will move on to an other person in the house hold.
