It depends on how much you want to spend!!
I love Ikea for just about everything, and the price is right. They have this thing where you can buy a base and a shade indvidually... it's SO much fun! You can mix and match to find something that suits your decor, and you won't spend a fortune.
The other store that I like is Pier 1, but their lamps are expensive. I just got a really nice table lamp with an etched glass base. It was normally $135, but I got it 50% off. (They've got a big winter sale on right now).
Don't know what part of the world you're in, so those suggestion may or may not be of any help. Happy shopping!

HomeGoods has a good variety of really nice lamps at extremely reasonable prices (usually around $39). HomeGoods is associated with both TJ Maxx and Marshall's, and are usually adjoining them but are sometimes on their own.

If you don't mind shopping online, and if you don't mind spending "a little more"...www.lampsplus.com. I have ordered all of my lamps and lighting there and I've never had a problem with ordering/delivery. They have hundreds of really unique lamps and lighting in every color, texture and size. They also have wall decor and rugs.

If you live in a town/city that has estate sales (check newspaper) -they have incredible selections that often are expensive but sell so reasonably. My daughter goes to them in the K.City,Mo area all the time and her buys are beyond belief-everything from clothes to household items-later on they go into her garage sales when she updates.
