I'm 27, a postdoc fellow working in UMD not a US citizen. Being a newcomer to Maryland and having no relatives, no close friends, who can help me as a driving supervisor, I find a big if not unovercomable obstacle towards having a driving license. Please let me know if there is any service providing driving supervision for the learner's permit period? I tried with search engines but couldn't find any. Thank you very much for any answer.

There must be plenty of driving schools in that area. Look them up in the Yellow Pages. At age 27 you don't need any specific period of supervision, you just need to pass the test.

Try your local telephone directory under Driving schools. Or the local school district or community college.

Call or go to the Department of Motor Vehicles and ask them for advice.
