Tear out all the books written by Paul and the other early church leaders. Then, and only then, will you be able to answer that question.

Why? Paul and the others concocted a bunch of mumbo Jumbo in order to build their selfish Empires, instead of teaching the messages of Jesus.

Jesus told you how to get to Heaven.

Not in vague analogies:

Jesus said, "Forgive others for their mistakes. If you do not forgive others, your father in Heaven will not forgive you."

No matter how much you say "Lord, Lord", if you hold a grudge you are not going to be forgiven by God, and you are not going to Heaven.

It is as simple as that.

Who ever defends Paul, and says Jesus forgives them while they are holding a grudge against anyone --- well, I am sorry to say, that person is going straight to Hell, according to Jesus' own words. "If you do not forgive others, your father in Heaven will not forgive you"

First of all you need to know that everyone is going to have a different opinion, and it's up to you to read the bible and figure it out for yourself!

But this is my opinion:

In the Old Testament, that Bible sets down a lot of rules. Most of which seem pointless and ridiculous to us now. Open up a random page in Leviticus and you will see what I'm talking about. In the Gospels of the New Testament, Jesus basically says that these things are not important and that now He is the one that bridges the gap between God and Man. EXCEPT the commandments. Jesus spoke about the importance of obeying the commandments.

And yes, Jesus came to give us eternal life and you receive eternal life through faith in Jesus. HOWEVER - James 2:26 says that "...faith without deeds is dead," which means that it's not enough to just believe, but you have to obey God. Remember, Satan believes in God - he just doesn't obey him (I know this is cliche, but it's good)

Sinning is inevitable. We do it. But we must redeem ourselves by asking for forgiveness and not sinning in that way anymore. Are you really sorry if you keep doing it?

Let's talk about the 10 Commandments - these are not things that should be hard. You just need to: Honor God, worship no other Gods, use the name of the Lord appropriately and do not swear by it or misrepresent it, Keep a day once a week for reflection and prayer, honor your parents, don't kill people, don't commit adultury, dont' steal, don't lie about people or gossip about them, keep your jealously in check.

I don't think these things are too hard, do you? I mean, these aren't unrealistic goals.

Let's talk about your lying. Why would you ever find it necessary to lie? I think this behavior should cease. No good could possible come from it.

God wants us to be fruitful and good, productive people. Focus on that and you will be fine.

Good Luck. God Bless!!

great question, and one that I will try to explain in a way that you can understand. Yes, murderers, adulterers and liars will be thrown into the lake of fire- those that are unrepentant. If you truly have accepted Jesus as the Savior of your sin then you will be in heaven. Once you believe on His Name and confess Him as your salvation, then your desire should be not to sin. However still being humans we can sin- so we have an advocate before the Father. As believers in Jesus we now have put on His Righteousness, so we do not have to sin. There will be times that we do but we can come back to Him for forgiveness. You cannot get into heaven, without accepting Christ's atonement for you. The 10 commandments are what we should follow- there is no way we can on our own, and even with Christ we will sometime fall. What I think you are asking is , if you accept Christ and then sin, can you lose your salvation? ABSOLUTELY NOT! You are secure in your salvation. God knows if your conversion was true or not. Does that help at all?

The commandments (The Law) are to lead us to a savior. If you realize that you have offended God by breaking His laws, then you realize that you are a sinner (not everyone realizes this). Now, if you realize that you are a sinner and will stand before the Judge, guilty of those sins, what should He do? If He is just (and He is), He SHOULD send you to Hell. The place of punishment for sinners. But, you know that He sent us a savior. Jesus Christ. Jesus paid the price so that justice could be done. God doesn't want you to go to Hell, so a price had to be paid to cover your fine for your offenses. Once you believe that Jesus did that and that there is nothing that you could've done, you should be appreciative of that. You show your appreciation by repenting your sins. In other words, you turn from them. You will still sin, but now you should struggle with them. Before, you just did them. Maybe you were aloof about them. Some people think that they can sin because they are forgiven. Now, do you think that shows appreciation for what was done? You are gonna show appreciation by doing the very thing that put Jesus on that cross to begin with. I don't think so!
So... go and live your life for God now by trying not to sin (don't lie, don't steal, don't commit adultery *lusting*, don't murder *hatred towards others is considered murder*, honor your parents, don't covet, etc.) You were paid for at a huge price, now go on and act like it.

I really appreciate your question.

You know maybe I should write a book. After reading all of the questions here, I am thinking that I should. The ABC's of Christianity. What do you thing?

We are all sinners, because sin means separation from God. In that way we all are sinners. Also we are all one in that we are each members of the human race and what effects one of us effects all of us. We are both the perpetrator of evil and the victim of evil. Being a Christian means that you accept the fact that Jesus is the Christ and that in some way you make that fact know to God. Some folks call that "being born again" and have a special prayer for it. Other feel that making the decision to follow Christ is all that is important. Baptism is the main thing that unites you with Jesus in His death and in His Resurrection. It is the teaching of the majority of Christian churches since be beginning of Christianity that Baptism is the most important sacrament of the church and necessary for salvation. There are some provisions for those who die in Christ before baptism, but those are exceptions, not the rule.

As to the 10 commandments. These were given to all before the time of Christ. When Jesus came he said he did not come to change the law, but to fulfill it. He gave us two commandments which are called the summation of the law. These are to love God with all of your heart, mind and soul, and to love your neighbor as yourself. If you do these two, you will also not break any of the other 10. Think about it.

First of the Bible is true! The ten commandments are basic rules to follow however there are much more sins than those. Everyone does sin therefore God sent his son Jesus Christ to atone for our sins. But he only made the first step! We must repent sincerely and strive to be better. That doesnt mean if we sin we wont be saved. But we still have to try and live righteous and repent when we mess up. That is how you recieve eternal life.

The 10 commandments and the other laws were given to us from God for two main reasons. The first reason is so we would know his will for how we should live our lives. The second reason was to show us that none of us could keep the law perfectly and so we would realize that we all needed a Savior. Here's how the Apostle Paul put it to the church in Galatia.

Galatians 3:22- But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. (23) But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. (24) Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

We receive eternal life by putting our trust in the sacrifice that Jesus made to pay for our sin debt and receiving God's Holy Spirit. I can't tell you exactly how a person receives the Holy Spirit because it isn't like there is a formula that fits every person. Here's how Jesus put it.

John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. (6) That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. (7) Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. (8) The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

First and foremost, yes we are all sinners.
God gave us the 10 commandments because after Adam sinned, he needed to let us know how to live life effectively for Him. That's the simple explanation.
The commandments are a guide. It's important for you to remember that even though we ARE sinners, we need to repent and TURN from our sin. Therein lies the lie of the book you read, which, from your synopsis, doesn't seem to tell you that. Repentance is the key. Jesus tells us that the only way to the the Father is through Him. He didn't say this to brag or take away the importance of God, He says this because he was SENT by God to be the living sacrifice for our sin. Sometimes I think this is the hardest concept for us to grasp. But it is truly as simple as that.

Once you give your whole heart to Christ - it's pretty hard to knowingly sin without being convicted by yourself. That's why, the more you get to know Him and live for Him, the easier it gets to recognize and repent of your sin.

Sorry Murder is one of the 2 unforgivable sins.
The reason for murder is because of the requirements to receive forgiveness and Repenting.

Lev. 6:4 Then it shall be, because he hath sinned, and is guilty, that he shall restore that which he took violently away, or the thing which he hath deceitfully gotten, or that which was delivered him to keep, or the lost thing which he found, one must repent.
Now if you can follow Lev. 6:4 for everything else then we can be repent and be forgiven.

Since you can NOT restore a person’s life, how can a person TRULY REPENT?
The only two exceptions to this are in self defense—protecting yourself or others, and in the service of your country when the Military are ordered into battle. The leaders are the ones that will be judged for that.

And we will be judged by our deeds also.

Matt. 16:27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

1 Corinthians 3:8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.

So NOT just by the grace of God can we be saved but we also have to try to live his commandments as much as possible.

The ten Commandments are NOT guidelines and they are NOT suggestions. They are Commands. If you break his commands you are guilty of the sins and you will receive the punishment. The reward for sin is death. If you are baptized and you depend on Jesus as your spouse (allowed for in baptism) and you keep the commandments then when you die (because of sin) then only your sin remains dead and you go on to Heaven. Jesus said "wide is the path that leads to destruction but, narrow is the way that leads to eternal life" He is the way the truth and the life. The problem that is most daunting for people is what do you do when you are tempted to sin and you break down and do it? Well, you must confess your sin to a priest and he will give you absolution or remove the guilt of the sin. A person may also confess with PERFECT CONTRITION to Jesus but, this is very hard to do because most people do not really understand what exactly their sin has done and that is very hard to be so perfectly contrite in that way. Most people are sorry because of the punishment lined up for them because of the sin not because of what it does to our Lord.

"i was wondering- if everyone is a sinner- then y is there a 10 comandments?? whats that about?"

The Ten Commandments are by no means all of the Law. Some would say that there are 613 laws, and we should live by them all. To depend upon those works of the Law as a way to salvation has time and again proven to be impossible. Humans are not sinners because they do certain sins, but because they have the nature of sin in them. So this is what Paul wrote about the 'Law':
Romans 3:19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. 20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.

So Paul recognized that the Law was given to drive us to repentance, we are simply hopeless in following it, and it was impossible for us to do. That's why we need Jesus Christ, because he was not from this earth, and he fulfilled the demands of the Law, and we are then allowed to accept him as our deliverer, the one who died for our inability to be perfect.

"how do we recieve eternal life? JUST by believing jesus is the son of god or do i have to obey all 10 commandments?"

It is by faith in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ that we are treated by God as 'sinless.' Not because of our perfection, but by the perfection of Jesus Christ. By accepting God's Son, we are accepted by the Father of the Son. We then become God's children.

"im not saying im gunna start sinning if the 10 commandments dont matter. i was just really curious. jesus died on the cross for our sins. if we lied- why is that bad? everyone is a sinner "

Lying has it's consequences. And God may choose to reprimand us for lying. There are verses in the Bible about this saying: " Whom he loves he chastens." So any sin that we commit we may be punished for by him, but he does this out of love for us as a father must see to it that his child behaves. It's really as simple as that. So in you saying that you would not try to sin more is well spoken. I would tell you that reading Romans 3 would bring you some understandiong on your line of questioning thus far.

"theres a book that explains the bible and explains how jesus is eternal and everything called "THE STRANGER on the road to EMMAUS".
it says" if you are a murderer, have commit adultery, blah blah, and a liar, you will be thrown into the lake of fire!
but i thought i once learned that i will be saved if i believe in christ. yes i lie and sin- am i gunna go to hell for it??? =[ "

Okay, I want you to follow this for a little bit. I am going to attempt to line something up for you so that you can understand what it is that we are up against by being a Christian.

IF Christianity is true, then our source for understanding it is the Bible. And IF the Bible is the source where we can delve into and understand the truth about God and his ways, then we have something and someone against us. That is the devil or often referred to as Satan.

What Satan does really is try to make God out to be a liar. He uses people to do what it is that he wants to muddy the waters. Change the subject, create alternatives so that people have to rely on their own judgement, who are sinners to begin with, aand so their nature is to choose other than the truth that is God's only.

So God chooses those who he wants by attracting them to know his ways. That is evident in the kinds of questions that you ask. So if you choose to respond to God and his call, then you will most certainly NOT be Hell bound. You are a part of the Kingdom of God, destined for eternity with him, and I hope to get a chance to see you there. ( :
