Have a quick question for you guys. I was standing in line one day at the store when the person standing next to me accidently brushed his hand on my jacket's arm when reaching. I noticed that on his finger was a band-aid, and I could plainly see blood soaking through. I am worried that the blood soaked through the band-aid and got on my jacket. I am also worried that that blood might contain HIV. Is there any risk? How long could the virsus live on my jacket? Let's just say the man was HIV positive, should I through the jacket out?
Thanks

...wow.

you are probably fine. as long as the blood did not find an entry to your body, there is no risk of disease transfer.

you can wash the jacket out. throwing it out is not necessary.

You are most likely fine. Wash the jacket. HIV/AIDS dies a few moments after hitting the air. It needs a host cell immediately to survive. If his blood didn't come in direct contact with your blood stream or mucous membranes(eyes, nose and mouth) you are safe.

hi,i'm no longer a Dr. yet I truly have taken trainings in the artwork position (hosptial, dr.workplace). i grow to be informed it isn't difficulty-free to get AIDS and it has to bypass from someones blood on your blood.(or sexual intercoarse). i recognize they have cat AIDS, yet i imagine its different, no longer an same virus.i'd nicely be incorrect. i imagine if the band help went excellent on your cat and it grow to be a cut back section that grow to be open, i'd be worried yet when its only her fur, she's ok. in case you want to provide her a bath thats a good theory so she doesnt lick it off herself yet even then, you dont recognize if the band help grow to be contaminated. Why didnt you're taking the band help off once you talked about it? I wouldnt problem about the blood getting in all places. it truly is in trouble-free words truly. i does no longer use warm water on the cat!. cleansing soap and water can kill issues, per chance a more advantageous antibacterial style. i'd per chance use a bleach and water mix (10% bleach and 90percentwater)or lysol on your stuff, spray it and wait some mintues and sparkling it. I dont imagine you should problem except the bandaid touched a open wound on your self or your puppy. i imagine you should ask a health care professional and likewise the vet in case you're nevertheless worried. i recognize how deadly that's, yet its no longer difficulty-free to seize like the flu. i wish you'll get some help with the strain it is putting on you! it is going to likely be ok! You won't catch HIV that way. Unless the blood somehow gets into your bloodstream i.e. through an open wound.
The HIV virus will not survive on your jacket.
So your risk is practically ZERO.

I think you're fine, there's a plastic barrier so it probably didn't get on there. I'd just wash the jacket. It seems to me like you're being paranoid.

HIV dies when its exposed to air. You should have nothing to worry about unless there was actual fluid contact. Wash your coat and get over it!
