her excuse was that she had too many drinks after work (cuz she works at a bar/restaurant) and decided to stay by her coworkers house (who is a female)

You cant leave some one for one indiscrection. He should stay with her and throw it in her face for the rest of the relationship. That's what most people would do.

Your friend should find out the whole story. I'm sure he has not always done the right thing. But to be honest, doesn't sound very good, but 4 years is a long time to toss out for one night, unless she did cheat. Tell your friend good luck, and to get as much of the truth as he can.

I say tell him to do what he feels best.. maybe she just was having a really good time. If she came home and went straight to the shower or has hickey's or something then yea he should leave her.

If she didn't call and can't give a good excuse for where she was, I would think they really need to have a good look at their realtionship. It may be time to move on. If this is something that has happened before, yeah, he should leave.

4 years is a long time ---has she given him any reason prior to this incident not to trust her? did she tell him why she was so late? to break the relationship off for this one thing without 1st finding the facts is a bit premature---no dont break up--find out what happened and then decide where to take it----
