There is a good test to tell if he loves you. Tell him that you love him.
His reaction will give you an answer. Sod your pride. Because you have to ask yourself what's more important? Him or my pride?

Ask yourself a few questions. When he says I love you, does he look sincere? Does he only say I love you when he wants something from you?

maybe a tattoo. if you meet his mom & dad he loves you and if he treats you the same around his friends he loves you. if you've never met his friends or parents. you've got a problem
