If Ketchup required refrigeration it would say so on the bottle. Have you ever noticed restaurants have ketchup on the tables? Fast food has packs of ketchup room temp not cold? Really it is a matter of choice. Either way is correct. Buy 2 smaller bottles... 1 for you in the fridge and 1 for him sitting at room temp. Makes for a happy home.

Here is what I found......
Donna Scott, a Food Safety Specialist with the Department of Food Science at the Cornell Cooperative Extension in New York. She advises storing both condiments in the refrigerator after opening. Despite their acidic ingredients, neither condiment is sufficiently acidic to kill bacteria and microorganisms, including mold, that may be introduced to the containers after opening. Refrigeration does not kill bacteria and microorganisms either, but does slow the growth. Refrigerated, ketchup should keep for up to 6 months; mustard, 1 year.

Yes, it should be refrigerated (will keep about 6 months if refrigerated). It keeps longer than most products because of the acidity, but leaving it out on the counter can increase chances of mold and bacteria.
"Many items besides fresh meats, vegetables, and dairy products need to be kept cold. For instance, mayonnaise and ketchup should go in the refrigerator after opening." http://www.nps.gov/public_health/inter/faqs/faq_food.htm

Ketchup does not need to be refrigerated. Mold or bacteria cannot grow in acid, nor will it spoil because of the acid from the vinegar and the preservatives of the sugar.

Definately put it in the fridge. It will spoil and you can get very sick from it. Most ketchup bottles state "refrigerate after opened'.
The same goes for other condiments including mustards, mayo, e

It doesn't have to be refrigerated. And as long as you're not dipping anything into the bottle or container itself, it will be fine. We never refrigerate ours because we buy the big bottles and it takes up too much room in the frig. Look on the bottle....nowhere does it say must be refrigerated because it doesn't have to be. :) sorry.

If it has to be in the fridge it would say on the bottle. If there is no label saying to refrigarate once opened then it is not required.
