You should because rape is something to be taken seriously especially if it's done by someone close to your family. Rape is rape no matter what age you are. Stand up for your right as a woman!

Isn't it annoying when people tell you what you SHOULD have done??? Considering your parents' age, gage how you think they would react. If I were you, I would talk to the police first; different states have different statutes of limitations. In case he is a serial rapist, the police would have your statement on file. Even if it turns out it is too late to press charges, I would still confront him. He may be dying to apologize and beg for your forgiveness. How old was he when this happened? How old were you? What he did was wrong on every level, you deserve some closure. Trust your instincts. Good luck.

Please, please tell.
You will let this off your chest.
Get a counselor, and call the police. I would wait before I tell your parents because if they have health or heart trouble it could prove detrimental.
Just one question if you don't mind: Did you have a child by him?
Because if you did, and never told the child or the father you might as well be honest to the child and the father, too.
My prayers are with you, and God lead you in the right direction.
This is too much suffering and has gone on way too long.
I feel for you. Peace always.

If it was me, I would go ahead and tell them about what happened to you. I would also, call the police and tell them. This man violated you, and you need to put him behind bars for doing it. Go ahead and press charges against him and put him where he belongs, in jail. You would also be helping other women, by stopping him, from getting the chance, to rape again. Good Luck! I hope everything works out for you.

Forget about worrying about telling your parents unless someone is a minor, but you are 50!. Minors should always tell their parents. Tell the police regardless! Do not wait one more day longer. You might be protecting someone else from harm.

It is completely up to you. They are more likely to believe you now because I would think that you are a mature adult. My step-father did the same to me and I told immediately. My mistake. No one believed me then but now I am 26 and for some reason they believe me now. I think that you should because when the time comes for them to go, you would regret it and carry that with you for the rest of your life. Good luck, you will get through this I hope.

yes. Tell your parent. I know it isnt easy..but you should have informed the police too. But everything is never been to late...report him. It will show how serious u are.
Should not let a rapist roaming around...he have a high chance to rape another woman now..a rapist on the loose.

I think that maybe you should. He has gotten away with it. That's not right. He shouldn't be around your family and basically shoving the fact in your face that you didn't turn him in. You might still be able to take it to the police as well. Depends on when it happened. I'm so sorry it happened to you.

I encourage you to tell your parents--esspecially if they still associate with the creep. I think your parents would want you to do whatever would help you cope with the trauma. It will horrify them, too, but if I were them, I'd be happy to know such horror if it would help a family member. Good luck. I hope the lowlife who did that is named for what he is.
