Well, I'm curious to know. I haven't given out my s.n, but I think I will-so people can chat with me, if they want. I am not sure though. Eevryone I know gives out their screen name via internet on their myspace or facebook-so, I don't know should I? I kind of want to, so someone I am kind of interested in me, will see it , and hopefully contact me. What do you think? He could always send me a message too with out aim, so what do you think?

I don't give out any personal information at all, even on this forum. I like to ask and answer questions, it's helpful sometimes and informative but I have friends of my own and we call each other on the phone or email each other. Dangerous to give out any personal info. to anyone you don't know well. I don't even say in what state I live.

That depends on the type of person you are and what kind of people you think frequent your MySpace or Facebook. If you're just looking for conversations with people (and can hold yourself to that), go ahead. If it's more of searching for love and romance, I wouldn't do it.

I give out my SN on a couple of websites (they are also different SNs so I can tell where you found it if you're contacting me out-of-the-blue). To date, I've only had one or two people IM me over Yahoo! Answers and very few total strangers in all.

That said, I also don't get too specific about who I am or personal features. I roughly estimate that a really-driven person might be able to narrow down who I am to about one of a few thousand Americans after a moderate IM chat with me (but you also have to spend some time tracking down what I tell you and assume that I'm not lying in any way).

While this might just be me, I don't hook-up with anyone over the Internet (even people I know from my day-to-day activities). If we were meant to meet, we would w/o the need of IM; if not, I'd rather be trying to date somebody in my general vicinity who I would already know is a creep or not.

Yes it can be but what are you looking to do? have them email you with a profile so you can see if you want to chat with them.
